I don’t know how much longer I could have kept running from the Battle Frenzy orcs who were looking to kill me and my young nephew.

MY REVIEW – 5 stars!

Are you looking for a fierce heroine who stops at nothing to protect those she loves? A hero who’s both strong and tender hearted? Then you definitely need to read Orc’s Property!

Jane has known only pain from orcs, and will stop at nothing to protect her nephew. Even if it means trusting a strange orc. She’s outspoken, determined, and brave.

Jiwal is an orc unlike any we’ve met before. He’s well-read, even tempered, and loves his people. But it doesn’t mean he’s weak. In fact, his differences make him stronger.

The two have a slow burn romance that erupts into a fiery passion once they come together. There are bloody scenes, and one in particular some readers may find difficult to read, but the story is beautifully written.

Dropping his bag by the door, JD headed straight to the kitchen for a glass of milk. Bringing the glass with him, he collected his suitcase and pulled it to his bedroom. Couldn’t wait to check out a few scavenged treasures from his trip to the Appalachian area on the border of Tennessee and Virginia. He’d thought the area would be a good place to begin research for his thesis on paranormal phenomena.

Wished his father understood JD’s interest in experimental psychology. Heck, considering he couldn’t get the man to call him anything aside from James David, as if JD left some sort of unsavory tag on the Tolliver name, seemed highly unlikely the old man would ever change his mind about JD’s interests.

Opening his carryon, JD retrieved an item he hadn’t dared leave to baggage handlers. Discovered it in a dusty, trash strewn corner of a soon-to-be demolished old mansion in Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee. The small cube-shaped box smelled of cedar, and JD had kept it safely on his person the remainder of his trip. It resided in a bag on his lap during the flight. No question about it. I was on my way to Hell.

I fell into a rocky hole, so small I couldn’t stand up. I couldn’t even crawl down the steep slope. Rolling from side to side got me inching down, but also got dirt up my ass. And whether exertion or something else caused the temperature to rise, I was getting much, much warmer.

Ingenuity kicked in, and I figured out by laying on my back, head first, I could use my feet on the craggy sides to push my way down the tunnel. The bottom had sides equally rough. No doubt I’d have bruises all over.

No biggie. Pain I could handle.

A deep voice rose up from the darkness. “You think so, eh? We’ll find out.”

Oh, goodie.

Without warning, I fell head first onto a dirt floor as lumpy as the tunnel. Even as I watched, rubbing my head, the hole closed. I tapped on the spot where the opening had been to see if it was solid. Yeah, they didn’t miss a trick, this bunch.

“Welcome to my home,” the deep voice said with obvious amusement.

I turned to find a well dressed man in a suit not unlike one I’d wear to the office, when I bothered to go in. His hair had been neatly styled, his shoes shined, and his body looked like he could give me a challenge on the handball court. In fact, as I gazed longer, he looked a lot like me.

“This is what you were. Now, I will show you the real me.”

First, his eyes turned red. That was enough to make me tremble. Something awful radiated from them, the promise of no sympathy, no compromise.

As covertly as I could, I looked for routes of escape. I should have kept my eyes on him, or better yet on the floor. Cages and torture devices and things I’d only seen on the Internet filled my vision. I wasn’t skilled at using them, as my extra marital lovers told me, and I doubted I’d be any better at having them used on me.

“See me, and know that I am your Lord and Master,” the deep voice ordered.

Despite emptying myself earlier, I again felt the need to pee when I looked upon the creature who spoke to me. With skin as red as his eyes, hair only a few shades darker that hung to his waist, and claws on both fingers and toes, just seeing him induced panic.

MY REVIEW – 5 stars!

Another fantastic read from Ruby Dixon!

I think what I loved most was the “don’t judge a book by it’s cover” aspect, except in this case the book was the alien males. The clone of Crulden looks fierce, is feared, and caged like an animal… but when it comes to Bee he has a far gentler touch than her boyfriend, Ruffin, a respected guard.

Seeing Bee’s patience and determination with the clone was wonderful. She wanted to give him a chance when others wouldn’t. They feared him, hated him… but Bee saw the good inside him.

This is a heartwarming, feel-good story that will leave you smiling.

Series Review: All the Pretty Monsters by Kristy Cunning #reverseharem #fantasy #bookreview

I started reading fantasy reverse harem romance during the pandemic, and now I think I’m addicted to them. I especially the more “monster” type books, or those classified as reverse harem horror. When I stumbled across All the Pretty Monsters, I didn’t realize the series was so long. But no worries, it’s in Kindle Unlimited if you can’t afford to buy all six volumes.

Book one, Gypsy Blood, had a bit of an unusual start that left me feeling a little uncertain, but by the second chapter, I was hooked! I loved getting to know the characters. Even better, there’s enough mystery and action to keep you flipping the pages. While book one didn’t have tons of super hot sex, the series definitely heats up as things progress.

What do a mix of creatures and a Van Helsing have in common? Their growing attachment to a sweet monster named January Violet Carmine – who has a tendency to blow herself up when mixing potions. But reader beware… there’s more to Violet than you realize. The twist to her story was a pleasant surprise and just made everything a hundred times better. Why? Because Violet is my favorite of all the monsters! Shh… you’ll have to read the series to find out what she is.

Want to find out how vampires, werewolves, and other creatures came to exist? The author puts an interesting spin on things. All the Pretty Monsters is full of gyspy curses, monsters, fights, sex, and so much more.

If you’re looking for a complete series to binge read, give this one a try. Once I started, I didn’t want to stop! — 5 star series! (yes, the entire series)
