About the Book

A few years ago, when his sister went missing, Haggard Crow turned into something he never wanted to be. A killer.

Even after his sister is rescued a year after she was kidnapped and sold, Haggard ‘Thief’ Crow doesn’t have any plans on changing. He sort of likes the zero fucks given guy that he is now.

Bonus points, he saves women and children from extreme situations, along with his club and real life brothers by his side.

After a horrible marriage, Haggard has zero plans of ever finding a woman again. One-night stands not counting, he adores his life as a single man. There are no expectations. No ‘where are yous’ and ‘are you coming homes.’

The life he chooses to live is a simple one. Until he makes a huge mistake, and he steps over that line between ‘daughter’s best friend’ and ‘a woman he desperately wants.’

Before long, he can’t stop thinking about her. Can’t stop wanting her. Can’t stop feeling things for her that a man twenty years her senior should never feel for a girl he watched grow up.

After one lapse in judgment, he decides she needs to go. But the funny thing is, he never expected Sophia Madden to fight back. And dirty at that.

MY REVIEW – 5 stars!

You’ll need tissues!

I don’t like spoilers, so I won’t say why you need the tissues, but seriously… don’t read this book without some.

Sophia has loved Haggard since was a teenager, and after she became a legal adult, Haggard started to see her differently. Though he did his best to keep away from his best friend’s daughter, they were fated to be together… and when tragedy strikes, Haggard finally realizes life is too short to not grab hold of the person you love regardless of the consequences.

Sophia is strong in many ways yet vulnerable in others. Haggard is all alpha and not afraid to get his hands dirty in order to protect those he loves. They balance each other so well! I adored how sweet Haggard was to Sophia when that’s what she needed, but could go all caveman too.

If you like age gap romances, with action and drama, if you’re prepared for an emotional story, then Always Someone’s Monster is a must-read!

MY REVIEW – 5 stars

Fast-paced, action filled, age gap romance — Hating My Baby’s Daddy was a thrilling, suspenseful book. Once I started reading, I couldn’t stop.

I loved Shia’s mix of innocence and determination. Leo was all alpha, and something of a bad boy, except where Shia was concerned. For her, he was protective and caring.

Loved this book!

Excerpt

“Look, kid. I got nothing to tell you.”

Bray pulled his gaze from the full lips he’d been watching as the man in the doorway, Sam, gave a flat refusal. He took a deep, calming breath and willed away his body’s response. Maybe he needed to back up a little and explain the urgency of the situation. He didn’t have a lot of time to find Mase, and this Sam guy was his best bet.

The guy blocking the doorway would be hot if his eyebrows weren’t pinched together so tight and his big, full lips weren’t turned down. Hell, he was still hot, even in full intimidation mode.

Sam’s honey-blond hair was longer on top and styled high. His groomed beard was just a few shades darker than the hair on his head and hinted at the tiniest bit of red highlights. Bray lowered his eyes again to Sam’s lips. Both were plump, but the top lip was a little fuller than the bottom one. That was rare, in Bray’s experience, but sexy as hell.

The tic in the jaw next to those lips brought Bray back to the matter at hand. He looked up into Sam’s cinnamon-brown eyes as he considered his options.

“I know you’re working with Mase and I have to find him. I’m—”

“I don’t know what you’re going on about, but I have shit to do.”

Sam tried to close the old, paint-chipped door in Bray’s face, but Bray stepped forward, using his foot as a doorstop. He wouldn’t give up that easily. Bray needed to untie his tongue and keep on task, no matter how sexy the guy was.

“Please, I don’t have a lot of time. I just need to talk to him.”

“Look, kid—”

“I’m not a kid. I know he’s pulled some crazy stunts since he got kicked out—”

“You don’t know shit, kid. If you just got kicked out of the military and you’re looking for camaraderie and a job, forget it.”

As soon as Sam said the word ‘military’, Bray breathed a sigh of relief. Sam swore under his breath. So the guy definitely knew his brother. Sam flexed his huge biceps as he crossed his arms. His head dipped to one side as he leaned forward. Bray swallowed then a tiny breath escaped his lips as he imagined the man before him leaning in to steal a kiss. Was this guy Mase’s boyfriend? If so, his brother was one lucky bastard.

“Move your foot. Like I said, kid, you don’t know shit,” Sam ground out through clenched teeth.

“Just tell me what’s going on. Is he okay? If he’d returned any of my emails over the past two and half years, maybe I’d know more about what was happening.”

“You think I can help you?”

Bray gave one sharp nod of confirmation. Sam blew a breath out between his lush lips and dropped his arms to his sides. The crease between his brows eased a bit as he seemed to really look at Bray for the first time. He looked over Bray’s head down the hallway for a moment before coming to some kind of decision.

“What’s your name, kid?”

“Bray, Brayden Hart.”

There was a pause. Bray assumed it was Sam digesting Bray’s last name, Mase’s last name.

“Well, I’m sorry, but I got nothing for you, Mr. Hart.”

“How’d you know I was in the army?”

“You got it written all over you, from your close-cropped cut to your military stance.” The guy rolled his eyes and shook his head. “I’ve got things to do, kid, so do you mind moving your foot—or do I need to move it for you?”

Bray wet his dry lips as he contemplated his choices. He could call Max for another favor, but if he went that route, he’d need this part to be believable.

“I can just sit out here and wait until he comes home.”

“You’ll be waiting the rest of your life, kid.”

“It’s Bray or Brayden, and I think you have a really good idea when you’ll be talking to Mase again.”

Looking over Sam’s shoulder, Bray took in the shit-hole apartment with its dingy brown carpet and walls so old that the wallpaper was peeling at the corners along the ceiling. A ceiling with tiles that had different-sized brown rings, a sure sign of water damage. Was this how Mase was living now? The thought made Bray’s gut twist uncomfortably.

If Mase needed money… Bray shook his head. Mase would never be the one to reach out, which was exactly why Bray was standing in the hallway that smelled like piss mixed with broccoli farts. Unless the inside of the apartment smelled better, he didn’t see how anyone could even think about putting a morsel of food into their mouth in this place.

If by chance Sam did talk to Mase before Brayden could get to him, he had to figure out a message most likely to get a response. Would Mase come home or even return a call if he knew the truth? Probably not. Bray bit his lip as he waffled. He didn’t like lying, and he especially didn’t like lying to family. He wasn’t sure he’d ever be able to forgive his father for his ‘little white lie’.

“When you see him, tell him Nickel needs him. Tell him it’s looking like it might be life or death.”

Both those statements taken separately were absolutely one hundred percent true. Nick might deny he needed their older brother, but he and Bray were twins. Bray knew they both required all the support they could get.

When Mase heard those statements together, Bray knew what he’d assume, and he’d have to apologize for it later. For now, he decided it was the best route. He had a feeling Sam would repeat those statements verbatim to his brother.

“Nickel?” Sam asked.

“Nick, my twin.”

“Twins? There’re two of you running around wreaking havoc?”

“Nick wreaks more havoc and we’re not identical, so there aren’t exactly two of me.”

Sam’s only response was a raised eyebrow.

“So you’ll tell him?”

“I’m sorry. There’s no way I can help you,” Sam said with the shake of his head.

Even though Bray was anxious, he hesitated before lifting his foot. He needed Sam to think he was reluctant to leave. Sam was only a couple inches taller than Bray’s five-foot-eleven-inch frame, but he hunched down a little, so they were eye to eye.

“I can’t help you,” Sam said again.

Bray swallowed as energy began to hum under his skin at the man’s direct stare. He couldn’t be lusting after his brother’s boyfriend. Wetting his dry lips one last time, Bray nodded and lifted his foot. The two men stared at each other for a moment longer, until the sound of a baby screaming somewhere down the hall had Bray turning his head. Before he could even suck in another breath, the door in front of him slammed shut and the lock snicked into place.

With a dejected sigh, Brayden looked at the door for another minute. Guilt had his stomach tightening into knots. He couldn’t afford to stand around, though his hesitation to leave would probably work in his favor in case Sam was watching through the peephole.

When he pushed open the door of the building a few minutes later, Bray sucked in some of the fresh air. He didn’t even care that his clothes immediately glued themselves to his body with the humidity Florida was famous for. He was just glad to be out of the stench that had pressed down on him inside the apartment building.

After one last glance at the second floor, Bray walked down the sidewalk toward the parking lot. As soon as he was in his rental car, he dialed Max’s number.

“How’d it go?” Max said.

“He wouldn’t even admit he knew Mase.”

There was silence on the other end. Max had warned him against making contact with Sam. He’d suggested following him until he led Bray to Mase, but Bray didn’t have that kind of time.

“So, it looks like you were right,” Bray admitted.

There was still silence on the other end of the line.

“Look, Sin. I still need help.”

Bray always struggled calling his friend by his pseudonym. Even though it stood for Super Intel Nerd, calling a nerdy guy like Max, Sin seemed funny to Bray.

“Next time listen to me. You’ve now ruined the advantage of surprising him.”

“Fine. Can you find out where he’s going?”

“Of course I can.”

Bray could hear the light click-clack of Max tapping on the keys of his laptop. Putting the phone on Bluetooth, Bray started his rental and pulled out of the parking spot behind Sam’s apartment building.

“Where’s he going?” Bray asked as he pulled out onto the street.

“I have him traveling out of Miami to Kiev tomorrow with a stopover in Munich.”

Bray tapped his fingers on the steering wheel. This had just gotten a lot more complicated and expensive than he’d anticipated. Was Mase undercover or was he in trouble? If he was in trouble, Bray wanted to be there.

“Looks like I’ll be heading to Kiev,” he sighed.

“I’ll book you a flight that stops over in DC. I’ve got something I want to give you if you’re going to Kiev.”

“I just have to check out of the hotel. Give me a couple of hours to get to the airport.”

Max disconnected the call without saying goodbye, but it didn’t surprise Bray at all. Max was always on to the next problem.

BOOK REVIEW: Seeing by Patrick Winters #horror #bookreview

A secret revealed. A legacy undone. A horror immortalised.

For generations, the Berdeaux family name had been synonymous with hospitality and distinction. But that all changed in the summer of 1979, when Dewey Berdeaux’s “hobby” came to light. It was a revelation that stunned the town of Barrville, and ever since then, the Berdeaux family mansion has stood as a grim reminder—with its fair share of ghosts, if rumour is to be believed.

Now, a brother and sister will bring their team of paranormal investigators to the ancestral home, seeking evidence of the supernatural. They aim to show the world there is something more beyond our passing.

But sometimes, some things are better left unseen…

MY REVIEW – 3 1/2 stars

Seeing is the first story I’ve read by this author. I’ve always loved horror books and movies, especially ones about haunted houses. However, that also means my expectations are high.

The Berdeaux House is home of a famous murderer, who supposedly haunts the halls. Sounds like an amazing, spine tingling read, doesn’t it?

The beginning, for me, was a bit slow. When we get to the creepy, haunted house, the author set the stage with a short conversation and tour with the owner. To this point, the pacing is slow. Incredibly so for such a short novella.

Once left to their own devices, the ghost hunters set up their equipment and start their hunt. I was ready and waiting for some action! And then waited and waited…

This is the part that dragged for me. Instead of letting me experience the initial rounds of their investigation, the author “tells” us about it. The pages with little to no action drag the pace down further.

Then we finally meet the ghost!

Once the ghost enters the scene, things go from almost stagnant to warp speed. Action. Drama. Violence. I could feel the emotions at this point in the story and was eager for more. Sadly, over 70% is spent setting up the actual haunting so it was over far too quickly.

Those short action-packed pages were thrilling, and a perfect blend of horror and suspense.

My Review

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. The review below is only my opinion.

When I read the book description, it sounded awesome. I didn’t realize it was part of an MC series as I hadn’t read this author before.

I have mixed feelings about this story. For the most part, I loved Luella and Magnolia. I did wish Luella would stand up for herself a bit more, but with her past, her behavior was understandable. Magnolia was adorable and I truly loved seeing her settle into her new family.

Bowie is… typical for this genre. While I loved the way he wanted to protect Luella and Magnolia, some of his behavior wasn’t something I would personally put up with. Had I been in Luella’s shoes, I’d have kicked him in the balls.

I know some readers love cheating and club girl drama in MC romances. I’m not one of them, but if those two things are your cup of tea, you’re going to love this book.

There’s action, drama, and love in this fast-paced romance. If you’re looking for a gritty, raw biker romance, go grab a copy of Ruin My Life.

BOOK REVIEW: The Orc’s Wife by Layla Fae #orcs #fantasyromance #bookreview #laylafae

I did it. I’m in the orc capital… only not as I imagined. For one, I am mated to the formidable orc general whom everyone fears. And two, the orc Imperator is secretly planning my mate’s death.

With strong, bloodthirsty Urgan by my side I am not afraid… until he locks me up in his dungeon and forbids me to leave while he’s preparing a military coup. It’s for my safety, he says. But I don’t feel particularly safe in the palace crawling with orcs, with the orc princess Urzulah trying to rip me apart so she can have my mate for herself.

Urgan doesn’t take it well when I defy him. A rift grows between us, and when it seems that our bond hasn’t been fated, after all, he rejects me publicly.
And now, I can’t even tell him I’m pregnant

MY REVIEW – 4 stars

If you haven’t read the first book, go download it now. You’ll need to read it in order to enjoy this one fully.

The beginning to book two was a lot slower than book one, with little action or dialogue. It took me about a chapter to really dig in and immerse myself in the story.

Una was bold, brave, and devious in the first book. In this next installment, she seems to have lost herself a bit. She’s suddenly listening to anyone who’s ever said she’s weak and worthless. Where she’d tried not to show fear previously, she’s now scared. It wasn’t until about halfway through that she seemed to remember who she was.

Urgan has grown softer since taking a mate, but we saw those changes beginning of the previous book. The most dramatic thing Urgan does is immediately explained, which for me dropped the impact quite a bit. I was prepared to hate him and was ready for some much needed angst and drama. Then his actions are explained and… well, I wasn’t sure how to feel.

There’s fighting, torture, kidnapping, steamy scenes between Urgan and Una, and a grandmother who nearly stole the show. I seriously love Orianna. She’s brash, not shy to voice her opinions, and has the attitude to back it up.

The ending of the book was wonderful. A happily ever after of sorts, with a promise for more adventure in another book. I loved the way the orcs and humans pulled together to defeat a common enemy. But mostly I loved Una and Urgan as a couple. They’re perfect for one another.

The Orc’s Wife is a fast-paced, action-packed, steamy read that will leave you wanting more.

Book Tour & Review: Accidental Sugar Daddy by Kaci Rose #giveaway #billionaireromance #bookreview @AuthorKaciRose

Accidental Sugar Daddy

by Kaci Rose

Genre: Contemporary Billionaire Romance

How does a single mom end up with a sugar daddy?

Ellie wasn’t looking for a Sugar Daddy. The second she realized she had accidentally stumbled into a mixer of Sugar Babies looking for daddies, she started for the door. Then the sizzling hot guy at the bar caught her eye.

What started as a simple dinner date turned into an offer too tempting to resist. Join him at work events and social gatherings for one month—no sex involved—and make enough money to ease the burdens she faced as a single mom. Surely she can resist her attraction to him for one month…

As far as Owen was concerned, Ellie was a complete mystery. She agreed to his offer, yet hated for him to spend any money on her. It didn’t add up… until he discovered she was a mother.

He wasn’t looking for an insta-family, yet the more time he spends with Ellie and her kids, the more he wants them in his life.

Can what started as a business arrangement shift into more? Or will their unconventional start ruin a chance for a beautiful forever?

This is a VERY Steamy, Billionaire, Fake Relationship, Age Gap, Sugar Daddy Romance. No Cliffhangers. As always there is a satisfying Happy Ever After. If you love steamy romances with insta love, hot love scenes, and billionaires, then this one is for you. This is steamier then any book I have written to date. You have been warned.

Goodreads *

The book description sounded so awesome I couldn’t wait to read this one. Single mom and a billionaire? Who could resist?

Ellie is such a strong character. Not only is she fiercely protective of her daughters, but she’s determined to do things on her own. Every time Owen wanted to buy her things, she fought him. I liked her independence.

Owen never wanted to fall in love. Then Ellie and her two girls broadsided him with feelings he’d prefer not to have. But once he realized he’d fallen for them, he was ready to do whatever it took to keep them.

The story was cute with quite a few steamy scenes. The writing flowed pretty well, but the opening didn’t really hook me as much as I’d hoped it would. I didn’t really feel a connection to the characters until a few chapters in. There’s a few action scenes but the bulk of the story is Ellie and Owen’s relationship.

BOOK REVIEW: Orc’s Toy: A Monster Romance by Celeste King #orcs #urbanfantasy #fantasyromance

A huge, scary, monster Orc Chieftain has his hands on me.
He could break me with one hand, I’m so tiny compared to him.
But he won’t.
Because I’m his female and I love him.

Korthar rules his clan with an iron fist.
He’s merciless to his enemies. But he’s got a soft spot for me.

Before him, I didn’t have much going in my life.
Earth is pretty much a desolate wasteland since the Orcs came over from Protheka.
And being a woman? The best you can hope is to be someone’s property.

Now, after my curvy body catches Korthar’s eye I’m worth something in this world at least.
My giant warrior will protect me.
He’ll claim me. And I’ll serve him. In any way he pleases.

But I’ll also give him a gift that he’ll never have to ask me for.
Something better than any fantasy, no matter how twisted.

What is this gift?

My heart.

And why do I give it so freely?

Because he’s already given me his.

MY REVIEW – 4 1/2 stars

Orc’s Toy has everything I love in a fantasy romance… action, adventure, battles, and of course love.

Anna would do anything to protect the other human women, even sacrifice her own happiness to ensure their safety. Good thing she meets an orc who will keep her safe without caging her, and will do his best to meet her every need. If there’s one thing he wants most, it’s Anna’s love.

There were a few scenes some readers might consider dark. They were handled in such a way it wasn’t difficult to read them. I loved the characters and hope we’ll see more of these orcs soon.

If you want a quick read with big, sexy orcs, steamy scenes, and a happily ever after, Orc’s Toy is an engaging read that will leave you hungry for more.

BOOK REVIEW: Mary, Will I Die? by Shawn Sarles #youngadult #thriller @shawn_sarles

Bestselling author Shawn Sarles’ most terrifying YA horror yet…

It starts innocently enough. Four kids – three girls, one boy – are at one of their houses, playing games. One of them has read about “Bloody Mary” and the idea that if you look into a mirror and say her name thirteen times, she will show you the future. Some legends say she’ll show you your one true love or a skull to mark your death within five years. Others say that conjuring Bloody Mary will bring her into your world.

Both sets of legends are true. The kids go through with the act, saying her name thirteen times. One girl looks in the mirror and sees her longtime crush. One girl looks in the mirror and sees the boy in the group. But she pretends to see something else. One girl looks in the mirror and sees a girl she’s never seen before but can’t get out of her mind. And the boy . . . he sees a skull. But he pretends to see something else. They try to laugh it off. And mostly they forget about it. Or at least they don’t talk about it. Yes, over the next few years, whenever they look into a mirror, it’s like there’s always another figure standing in the background, getting closer.

Just short of five years later, the four of them are no longer friends, having gone on separate paths. The girl whose house it was has always tried to avoid the mirror they used – because she always sensed someone in the background. One morning as she’s passing by, she sees much more than her own reflection – it’s a scary figure taunting her. She startles and breaks the mirror. When the pieces are put back together (barely), the figure is gone.

That day in school, a new girl arrives. Her name is Mary…

MY REVIEW – 4 stars

Great thriller for young adults and tweens. Not too scary, as far as the Bloody Mary part goes. However, the real life issues, like losing friends because you aren’t cool enough for them anymore and issues of bullying were perhaps scarier than Mary.

The book shows the journey of four middle school friends who have gone their separate ways by high school, after having played a game called Bloody Mary. I enjoyed the twist on the tale, and really liked how the group pulled together by the end.

*Disclaimer: The review above is only my opinion. Neither the author nor publisher requested a review. I purchase a hardback copy from Barnes & Noble — twice — because my dog literally ate the first copy before I finished reading it.

BOOK REVIEW: Bad Kitty (Cat McKenzie) by Lauren Dawes #paranormalromance #urbanfantasy @authorldawes

A rookie cop. A team of supernatural detectives. A vigilante kitty shifter breaking bad.

My name is Cat McKenzie, and despite what people might think, I don’t enjoy being chased down darkened streets at night by a ten-foot shadow man who can literally make me die of fright.

Of course, that’s how all this started—the discovery of an underground fight club stocked completely with supernatural slaves.

The plot thickens when seemingly unlinked murders start to form a pattern I begin to recognize.

A supernatural fight club, possessed berserkers and an accidental enslavement, I’m pretty sure I’m getting Punk’d by life right now and I’d like to call cut on this scene.

MY REVIEW – 5 stars

This one started a little slower for me but once the supernatural action really kicked in, I couldn’t stop reading. Another fabulous addition to the series… but I’m left with a few questions. I really hope the series isn’t over. I need answers about the Gray Man, and more adventures with Cat and Sawyer. I loved seeing the variety of supernaturals in this one. Minotaurs, banshees, vampires, and more … an action-packed, steamy read that left me eager to read another and another and another… you get the picture.

*Disclaimer: The review above is only my opinion. The author did not request a review. I purchase a copy of the book from Amazon.
