Excellent, especially for a debut novel!
There’s a darkness to this story that some readers may shy away from, but it made for a powerful, page-turning story I couldn’t put down.
The trauma Sabra suffered as a child through her teen years shaped who she is. At first, she comes across as a young woman who enjoys having men chase her, only to turn them away after she gets what she wants. But as the story unfolds, we see how she came to be that way. It’s not that she’s hard-hearted. She’s protecting herself the only way she knows how.
Trevor is the perfect book boyfriend. Smart, sexy, and completely devoted to Sabra. He doesn’t run like she thought he would when he finds out the truth of her past. If anything, he seems to love her even more and admires the strong woman she’s become. It takes a certain inner strength to survive all she has, and still face the day with a smile, even when the shadows are lurking nearby whether imagined or real.
With a strong heroine and hero, enough drama and tension to carry through the entire book, and steamy scenes that had me cheering for Sabra and Trevor to get their happily-ever-after, Used is a book I couldn’t put down.
Five stars. Two thumbs up. It was phenomenal!
