Havoc (Salvation’s Bane MC) by Marteeka Karland #contemporaryromance #bookreview @marteekakarland

Spring — The father of my child is pressing for custody. Which is how I ended up dancing at Salvation’s Angels, a strip club owned by the notorious Salvation’s Bane MC. I have to earn enough to pay my attorney, then I’m out of here. I have enough on my plate without having to deal with the sexy-as-sin vice president of Salvation’s Bane. But Havoc, the bastard, wants me to stay. He’s found another way for me to make enough money to pay my bills, but I’m not sure he’s got my best interests in mind.

Havoc — It’s a pisser of a bad day. My son would have been sixteen today, had he lived. On my way to drown my sorrows I came across Spring, swishing her little ass on stage at our strip club. She’s not naked yet, but with that body and the way she moves, I don’t want other men seeing what she’s got to offer. There’s a loophole in every contract. Three songs. With me. After that? Well, I just hope my indecent proposal doesn’t push her away. At least, not until I’m ready for her to go. One problem. Now I’m addicted to her and the feisty son she’s raising. I know I’ll do whatever it takes to keep them safe. And make them both mine.

WARNING: Explicit violence which could be triggers some readers. Explicit sex as well as spanking and some voyeurism. As always, you can expect a HEA with no cheating.

“Place is really lit tonight.” Stryker grinned.

Havoc glanced at him over his coffee cup and grunted. Tonight wasn’t the night for this. He knew where Stryker was going.

“Girls are smokin’ hot.”

“I’m not interested in the girls, Stryker. Here to make sure things run smoothly.”

“Yeah. But you got to admit –” As he spoke, a busty waitress brushed her tits against first Stryker then Havoc as she set two cups of coffee on the table in front of them. She winked and bumped Havoc with her hip as she stepped away. “Makin’ things run smoothly should have a few perks with it.”

Stryker was yanking Havoc’s chain. Trying to get a rise out of his brother. Havoc knew it. Appreciated it. The man was his oldest friend, and he knew when Havoc was in one of his moods. On this day, he was always in a bad mood. Today was the seventh anniversary of the day his ex-wife gave him divorce papers. Not exactly noteworthy in itself, but she’d done it deliberately to hurt him. Because she could never stand not being the center of attention.

She’d had him served on the first anniversary of his son’s death.

Yeah. Today was not the day.

“Back off, Stryker.”

“Well, why the fuck not? Get some pussy. Pick out any of the girls. No one will reject you, you know that. Get laid hard. You’ll feel better.”

“I said,” he snarled, finally meeting Stryker’s gaze, “Back the fuck off.”

Stryker put his hands in the air in surrender. “Fine, man. But at least let me take over guard duty. I’ll get Dazz and Beaner to help. They’ve been doing very well keeping the guys under control without being all flashy and pushy. You need something more than that fuckin’ coffee. You’re like a bear with a sore paw.”

“Fuck you too, asshole.”

Stryker just chuckled. “I’ll take that as a yes. Get on up to your office. Or better yet, check out the new girl on tier two. Babe’s a looker.”

Havoc grunted again. Yeah. He’d just get right on that. If he wanted to fuck, he’d go to the Playground, a BDSM club Salvation’s Bane owned, and find a willing sub to scene with. No names. No expectations other than a fucking good time. Best of all, no fucking strings. And no fucking talking if he didn’t want to fucking talk.

No. He wasn’t in the right frame of mind. Even the masochists wouldn’t appreciate him tonight.

The bass from the music pulsed through his body, making him slightly ill whereas he normally enjoyed the rhythmic pulse. Salvation’s Angels boasted the most beautiful girls in the Palm Beach area, due in no small part to the fact that they were paid very well. Thumping bass pounding through the body enhanced the eroticism of the place, adding the sensation of touch mostly denied otherwise. The club might be owned by a biker club, but they served only the best liquor, the best food, in an environment that was more like a dance club than a strip club. While there were girls performing on stage, there was also a dance floor for guests and, if one paid enough, the girls would dance with the patrons. It was difficult to monitor everyone, but Havoc only hired the best security. There were several men tasked only with keeping an eye on the dance floor, and they were fucking good at their jobs.

Angels had two tiers and three levels. The first floor was for the general public. Alcohol was served, and there was a dance floor, but the girls kept their thongs on and didn’t dance with patrons. Lap dances were given in a strictly monitored “private” section, but that floor was more like a standard strip club.

Tier two was for the more “robust” patrons — meaning men or women who would pay top dollar for food, drink, and women. While sex was still strictly prohibited, these customers were given more leeway in their experiences. The women, while completely nude, still called the shots. They were allowed to pull back if they felt threatened or touched in a way that made them fear they’d crossed the line. Obviously, anything that made them uncomfortable was allowed to be shut down, too. Most had as much fun as the patrons did. The only thing not allowed was penetration of any kind. And not a single thong in sight.

Stryker was right. Havoc could have his pick of beautiful women. More than one of them were club girls of Salvation’s Bane. A couple in particular he knew could take his mind from the harsh memories surrounding this day.

Fuck. Who was he kidding? The rage was too close. Nothing but a good knock-down-drag-out was going to make a dent in his state of mind today.

A deafening round of cheers came from the second tier stage, pulling Havoc out of his dark musings. He’d been on his way to the third floor, where the offices were located. Naturally, his head turned in the direction of the uproar…

And he stopped in his fucking tracks.

On the stage was a vision straight out of his most erotic fantasies. Dressed in an intricately strapped black outfit that left her tits bare while surrounding them with those fucking straps that also crisscrossed her body. Thigh-high boots were garnished in chrome chains, as was the rest of the fucking outfit. Long, long black tresses gleamed blue in the stage lighting with every move she made. Though her outfit covered a good bit, it revealed a healthy portion of gleaming pale skin. She was like some kind of dark angel out of his dreams. She had a deceptively innocent look in her eyes, but her body and that outfit told another story.

And the woman could dance like sin on a stick…

MY REVIEW

5 stars

Determined single mom meets headstrong biker in this fast-paced, super hot addition to the Salvation’s Bane MC series… and the sparks fly!

Spring will do anything for her son, even push her boundaries by working in a strip club to ensure she has the money she needs to keep Luca safe. She hadn’t counted on meeting Havoc, and she certainly hadn’t been part of his plan. While Havoc thinks Spring needs him to keep her and Luca safe, he realizes soon enough he needs them too.

If you like extra hot sex, alpha bikers, and a quirky kid who will capture your heart, go one-click Havoc!

My Review:

4 – stars

I fell in love with this series when I stumbled across the first book a little over a year ago. What’s not to love? Military alpha males – Check. Bikers – Check. Strong sassy women – Check. The stories are short enough to finish in an hour or two, but you still end up with a smile on your face and a happily-ever-after.

Bull was an intriguing guy. Seems easy-going, strong, dependable. A peek into his past tells a different story. Not to mention the curve ball you won’t see coming! Still, he’s every bit as honorable as the Dead Presidents we’ve read about to this point, not to mention protective and caring toward a certain lady.

Lily hasn’t had an easy life, but she’s no quitter. When she decides she wants more than friendship from Bull, she’s ready to do whatever it takes to make it happen. Even finding out the secrets of his past won’t deter her. I loved her character! She’s so sassy, funny, and her determination bleeds into every part of her life – not just going after Bull.

Add in an adorable dog and you have a super cute story.

When you read an MC Romance, you typically expect some suspense. Even a little. This one was so incredibly light on suspense it pretty much wasn’t even there. The conflict of the story revolves around Bull and his stubborness in accepting Lily as anything more than a friend. Like I said, it’s super cute and a feel-good read, just not big on action packed scenes.

I read the book cover to cover and enjoyed every second. If you want a light MC romance that will keep you engaged and make you smile, you need to pick up a copy of Taming Bull. You won’t be sorry.

Titan (Hades Abyss MC) by Harley Wylde #AgeGap #ActionAdventure @HarleyW_Writer

Cover Art by Bryan Keller

Delilah — I love my family. I really do. But having three older brothers and an overprotective father doesn’t make it easy to have a life. They’ve run off every guy I’ve ever tried to date. It’s time I made a life of my own, even if that means I have to leave home to do it. I never thought I’d end up in yet another town with a motorcycle club, or that I’d be working out of their clubhouse as a webcam girl. I enjoy the freedom, and the money. No one would ever believe I’m technically a virgin. I haven’t even been really, truly kissed much less done anything else with a guy before. When the club President, Titan, kissed me, then issued a challenge, how could I possibly refuse?

Titan — I no longer looked at the girls frequenting the clubhouse the same way I had before. Being a dad changed my perspective, especially since I had a daughter. I still had fun, but it had lost its appeal. Then she walked in. Too young. Too innocent. Until she asked to join the webcam girls. The thought of strange men watching her made my hands clench. It was safer if only I had access to the feed, or so I told myself. Really, I’m just being a possessive bastard. Delilah will be mine, whether she realizes it or not. One kiss is all it takes for me to know she belongs to me. When she’s taken, I know I’ll do whatever it takes to get her back, and I’ll bury anyone who’s hurt her. Delilah is mine, and I will kill to protect her.

WARNING: This book contains strong language, graphic sex and violence, and spanking. There are scenes some may find difficult to read. It also has a dog who’s too smart for his own good, a sweet yet sassy heroine, and a hero who knows there’s nothing more valuable than love and family.

The rooms where the girls held their shows had a small bathroom where they could shower and change after. I didn’t lurk in the hall like a creeper, but I did stick to the end of the bar nearest the rooms while I nursed a beer. When Delilah came out, her cheeks rosy and a smile on her lips, I wanted to wrap her in my arms and kiss the hell out of her.

“Have a good show?” I asked with a wink.

Her smile broadened. “Always. I wasn’t too loud, was I?”

“If you get a salute from every guy in here, then it just means you’re doing your job right. We don’t have to watch. Just listening to you is enough to make men want to fuck you.”

Her cheeks went crimson and she ducked her head, but not before I saw a pleased little grin on her lips. She was a contradiction. Bold and sassy enough to do a live webcam show of her getting herself off for money, but in person she seemed almost shy at times. It was cute as fuck, just like her. I reached out and ran my fingers through her hair, unable to help myself.

“I like it,” I said. When she’d first arrived, her hair had been a medium brown, not too far off from the color of my hair. Since I’d last seen her, she’d dyed it black with purple streaks. It made her look as pale as Snow White, and her vivid blue eyes stood out even more.

She came a little closer, her fingers tightening on the strap of her bag giving an indication she might be nervous. “Thank you. Not just for the compliment, but for giving us a safe place to work. I know the club takes a cut, but it’s better than trying to do this at the apartment. I’d be scared someone would find me.”

“Not going to let anything hurt you, angel.” I stroked my finger down her nose, then leaned back a little so I wouldn’t be tempted to do far more. Shit. She had to be half my age. The fact she never tried to get a drink, other than asking for a bottle of water or a soda, made me wonder if she was even twenty-one. I knew she was legal or she wouldn’t be able to do the webcam show at all.

Missy had come to us with the idea a year ago and she’d hashed out the details with the club officers. We got twenty percent from each girl to not only offer protection, but Missy also paid Wizard to set up the site and the programming required for it to work. The woman had started her own company and she’d been smart about it. For a fee, Wizard tracked all the people using the site and made sure it remained operational. How she handled payment to the girls working for her was her business and hers alone.

I always felt bad taking any money from Delilah. Hell, I was the only one paying her. When she paid her twenty percent each week, it was like she’d paid me to watch her get off. Shit. And now I was getting hard again.

“I also wanted to thank you for not… not making me feel like…” She bit her lip and looked away.

“Like a whore?” I asked.

She gave a jerky nod and glanced at me. “I know what I’m doing isn’t exactly conventional. Some guys might consider it prostitution and think they had a right to take what they wanted. I feel safe here. No one ever says anything bad to me. The few who do make remarks are always teasing.”

“You know Missy comes here even when she’s not doing her show, right?” I asked. I wasn’t so sure my brothers were only teasing. Delilah was hot as hell and I knew every damn one of the men in my club would gladly have her on her back, bent over a table, or on her knees. Then I’d have to bust their damn heads. I’d already started to think of her as mine, even though we seldom interacted with one another. They knew how I felt about her, but it didn’t mean they didn’t want her just the same.

“Yeah, she said she likes to party with the club. She’s tried to get me to come with her.”

I straightened, towering over her. “Don’t come to the parties at the clubhouse. You hear me, Delilah?”

Her eyes went wide, and she paled a little before anger tightened her features. “I’m not a child, Titan. If I want to attend a party, I will. It’s why I left home, so I could have a life. I didn’t trade one dad for another.”

Ouch. “Dad? You think I’m your second daddy?”

She visibly swallowed and tried to take a step back, but I reached out and grabbed hold of her arm, yanking her toward me. I leaned down, and my gaze locked with hers.

“Then maybe I ought to turn you over my knee and spank you.”

She gasped and swayed toward me. And in that moment, I knew it was a lost cause. There was no fucking way I’d ever be able to walk away from her. I kissed her. Hard. My tongue thrust between her lips as I took what I wanted, bent her to my will, and had her whimpering for more. Her hands fisted my cut as she clung to me. I wound her long hair around my hand, anchoring her.

I’d always been a demanding man in the bedroom, and it wasn’t something I’d change anytime soon. I liked being in control. The way she melted against me told me enough. She might have some spunk, but deep down, she was a submissive little thing. She’d take my orders and love every second of it.

I nipped her jaw, then put my lips by her ear. “You want to come to a party? Want to know what will happen?”

My Review:

3 stars

***SPOILER ALERT***

I read the book description and felt like I just had to read this book. There was something about it that called to me, whispering “read me!” and tempting me to one-click.

In all honesty, I’d have probably given it 5 stars, but if there’s one thing I can’t stand in a romance it’s cheating. Maybe they weren’t “together” when it happened, but a hero who has feelings for the heroine but screws around with other women is really just another asshole. Considering the amount of the book he follows this pattern, I spent the majority of the book wanting to bash him over the head.

Nora hasn’t had an easy time of it. Yes, she comes from a wealthy family, but as they say, money doesn’t buy happiness. In her case, it only caused her misery. Her family had an image to uphold at any cost, even their daughter’s emotional and mental well-being, not to mention her physical safety. I tend to avoid spoilers when I leave a review, but there is talk of rape in this book and a rape survivor may have difficulty reading some of the scenes.

All in all, I wanted to love the story, but I just couldn’t. They did get their happily-ever-after, but I personally would have never been able to forgive the hero for being with another woman, especially after he’d kissed the heroine and clearly had the hots for her.

If cheating and rape a hard No for you, you may want to pass this one by.

My Review:

5 stars!

I’ve bypassed this book when scrolling through Amazon I don’t know how many times. For whatever reason, I decided to take a chance and read it today. I’m so incredibly sorry I didn’t read it sooner because it was amazon (and now I want to binge read everything Ms. Madden-Mills has written).

Cocky Athlete? Check.
Sassy Nerd Girl? Check.
Off the charts chemistry? Double check.

There’s more to Maverick than most people see, and when Delaney finally gets to know him, she realizes he’s not the typical jock. I loved seeing the interaction between these two, and what’s not to love about a football star who’s secretly a geek? Not to mention one with a heart of gold who only wants to take care of his sister.

If you want a crazy, drama-filled ride, with a hero who is more than he seems, a heroine who is scared of getting her heart broken again, and a love that will last a lifetime, pick up a copy of I Dare You — you won’t be disappointed.

Book Review: Frat House Confessions – Ridge by Bethany Lopez #NewAdult #bookreview

About the Book:

She has a broken heart and revenge on her mind…

Still, a little revenge would go a long way in helping the healing process.

Ridge is looking for a stand-in to placate his mother and her matchmaking ways, and he has a feeling he’s just met the girl he can perfectly mold.

This makeover has nothing to do with love and everything to do with Karrie and Ridge using each other to get what they want. What starts as a ruse soon becomes an attraction they cannot deny. When it’s all said and done, they’ll both have more to confess than a need for revenge.

My Review:

5-stars!

I typically avoid books about guys in fraternities, however, I’m a suck for a fake relationship romance. I’m glad I gave this author, and this book, a try because I thoroughly enjoyed it. There was a moment when I hesitated to keep reading, but for the most part I enjoyed the interaction between Ridge and Karrie. She made him a better person, or at least allowed him to realize he wasn’t quite as rotten as he’d thought. Ridge gave Karrie the confidence she needed, letting her see she was stronger than she realized. The two were perfect for one another!

If you like fake relationship romances, especially in a college setting, this one is a must-read!

As young love goes Joey and Preslee were perfect but nothing last forever and the world is ready for the taking. Dale’s sassy wit shines in comedic fashion with Say You’ll Be There, book two in Love in Seven Mile Forge.

At sixteen, Joey Holmes handed me his heart.

At eighteen, I threw it at the Now Leaving Seven Mile Forge sign on my way out of town.

A silly teenage game of seven minutes in heaven spiraled us from friends to more.

We shared our firsts. Loved with the innocence of immaturity.

I wanted out. A fresh start far away from our tiny home town. Joey didn’t care where we were so long as we were together. I couldn’t spread my wings without clipping his. My heart told me I was doing what was best when I left him broken in my rearview mirror.

With a threat breathing down my neck, I’m forced to return home but Joey isn’t the skinny boy I knew. Nope, now he’s the sexiest Chief of Police in three states and he hates the very air I breathe.

EXCERPT:

“Preslee,” his soft voice turns hoarse, “I lo…” My index finger silences him this time.

When I plopped down his palms landed on my back, rubbing up and down while I situated myself. Now, his spanned fingers inch through the ticklish place under my arms, gliding until both my breasts sit in his hands. A slight ocean breeze peaks my nipples. The pads of his thumbs brushing against them makes keeping my thought train maddening. I deserve top accolades in the resisting temptation Olympics, but I need to say this.

“Show me. Exhale our past. Inhale our present. Until our world slows on its axis, threatening to grind to a halt, we make our second chance more than words. So many times, people use those eight letters in place of the sentiment to make them true. Love is a hug for no reason, support on the worst of days and shared joy on the best. It’s breakfast in bed, a ride from the airport, a forehead kiss, holding hands, sending a song which makes you think of me, handling vapid telemarketers, saying ‘bless you’ when I sneeze, thinking I’m beautiful when I’m really a hot mess, and seeing no other woman but me, trusting someone with all of you… it’s an entire planet of little subtle conveniences, flirts, and simplicity but conveying what matters without uttering a syllable. We save the words to use when actions can’t.”

A lopsided grin hooks up one side of his lips for a fraction of a second before they touch mine. He draws back, waggling his brows. “I’m all for a little less talk and a lot more action.” A whispered kiss followed by a sinful smirk. “Lovin’, touchin’, squeezin’.” I expect another peck but he shifts, dusting his lips along my cheek instead before hitting me with a hell of a smolder. “Everything I do, I do for you.” He finds the other cheek. “I don’t want to miss a thing.” Now my nose. “More. Than. Words. Preslee, you’re the flame. You were the first and you’ll be the last.” Warm breath skates down until his mouth takes mine in a searing possession.

Synopsis

Nick Bedford coaches the men’s rowing team at California Pacific College, a small liberal arts school in Sacramento. He’s quiet, dedicated—and closeted. He struggles with professional ethics and NCAA rules as he denies his attraction for Morgan Estrada, one of his rowers. While they may not be far apart in age, the difference between coach and athlete leads Nick to worry about exploitation.

But Morgan has desires and a mind of his own, and what he wants is his coach. As the spring racing season advances, Morgan feels his coach’s eyes on him. Morgan may be gay, and while he’s not out to team, he hasn’t hidden it, either. It may be a coach’s job to check out an athlete’s form, but Morgan hopes Nick’s interested in more than his technique.

Morgan corners Nick in the boathouse, and Nick admits that while he wants Morgan he can’t have him. Morgan laughingly points out that he’s not bound by any of those rules and he wants Nick. Nick and Morgan start a relationship, but Nick worries whenever they’re in public: what if someone sees? An anonymous complaint from a rower to the athletics director sends Nick’s worries into overdrive just as the crew prepares for the make-or-break race of the year.

Coach Nick Bedford watched the eight men—his athletes, sweaty and pushed to the edge, their sides heaving like thoroughbreds—do their best to beat each other on the boathouse ergometers. The ergs, specialized rowing machines that duplicated the rowing stroke almost exactly, were his rowers’ best friends and worst enemies, building their conditioning and strength but also devouring everything they had to give and demanding more. He often shared their workouts, but not today. Today he walked around each athlete’s erg, looking for flaws in his technique. The crew’s coxswain helped him, but he was still the coach. It was his job to get them in shape.

They were a small crew, and California Pacific College was a small school. A former college rower himself, Nick was a graduate student working on his master’s degree in exercise physiology at a not-too-distant state university, and around the boathouse, he did it all. He was the resident expert on bodies in motion, guiding each athlete through workouts on land and water, each designed to make the boat go faster. He was the dietician, trying to keep a group whose natural prey was pizza and beer on the nutritional straight and narrow to build muscle and fuel recovery. He was their sport psychologist, helping them through losses and guiding the young men through the shoals of school, rowing, and life. He spent his free time immersed in exercise science literature, reading, reading, reading—anything to give his men that extra edge.

He even rigged the boats, adjusting the hardware and making minor repairs.

Eight varsity athletes, eight seats in the varsity boat. Nick was lucky they were so competitive, even with each other. Posting their erg scores meant someone would be pulling harder next time. He also had a standing offer to the junior varsity rowers: any JV athlete who beat a varsity rower on the ergs could challenge him for a seat in the boat. He’d only had to make good once. Each of his eight rowers put the “I” in team, each determined to beat the others. For a small program, it was ideal. For eye candy, it was unbeatable.

“What’d you think, Coach?” his coxswain asked, coming to stand next to him.

Nick was lucky. Stuart Cochrane had coxed in high school, and the junior premed major was as skilled as they came. “There’s room to improve,” Nick said, never taking his eyes off his athletes. “Look at Sundstrom. He’s hunching his shoulders. On the ergs, it’ll hurt, but on the water, it’ll strain his muscles and make it hard for him to stay in synch.”

“He’s never going to catch Morgan without fixing his technique, either. I’m on it,” Stuart said. He walked over and knelt next to the large rower, watching intently for a few strokes before correcting him. Stuart returned, his coxswain’s strut even more pronounced.

Nick had to smile. The best coxswains were small and light, so they didn’t slow the boat with weight that wasn’t pulling an oar, and they had Napoleon complexes. Stuart fitted the bill: short and cocky and determined to win. “That worked.”

“Of course, it did.” Stuart smirked. “Keep your eye on Estrada. Have you noticed how he speeds up just a bit during the last two k? That’s part of how he keeps beating Brad.”

“I like a nice, friendly rivalry.” Nick grinned. “It keeps the erg times fast.”

“I’m not sure how friendly it is. Brad was the fastest until Morgan joined the team and hasn’t taken kindly to being beaten,” Stuart added quietly, his voice just loud enough to reach Nick’s ears over the sounds of the ergs. “And some of the other guys are beating him too.”

“Then Brad needs to up his game.” Nick didn’t want to know about rivalries like that. He’d seen crews torn apart by such distractions. So long as his rowers left their differences on the dock when they rowed, he didn’t care. As he’d told Stuart, a rivalry on the ergs would move the boat faster.

Nick returned his focus to the ergs. He’d kept an eye on Morgan Estrada, all right. It was hard not to. Collegiate rowers were in fantastic shape, but something about Morgan drew his eye. He was tall, taller than Nick (who, at six feet, wasn’t short), but then, rowing selected for tall men and turned them into muscular ones. Sweat dripped from one wavy brown lock, running down his cheek, but Morgan ignored it.

Nick noticed it, however. It defined Morgan’s cheek, flushed red with effort, but normally very fair. There was more conquistador than conquered in Morgan Estrada’s background. All Nick’s men were good looking in one way or another, but something about Morgan pulled him in, something that threatened to swallow him whole.

Eye candy was a perk of his job, but Nick tried not to stare too much. They were his boys; he was their coach. There was a trust there, and he took that trust very seriously.

Still, watching Morgan strain, sweaty and grunting and red, made Nick think of crossing that line.

ed, made Nick think of crossing that line.

Meet the Author

Christopher Koehler always wanted to write, but it wasn’t until his grad school years that he realized writing was how he wanted to spend his life. Long something of a hothouse flower, he’s been lucky to be surrounded by people who encouraged that, especially his long-suffering husband of twenty-nine years and counting.

He loves many genres of fiction and nonfiction, but he’s especially fond of romances, because it’s in them that human emotions and relations, at least most of the ones fit to be discussed publicly, are laid bare.

While writing is his passion and his life, when he’s not doing that, he’s a househusband, at-home dad, and oarsman with a slightly disturbing interest in manners and the other ways people behave badly.

Christopher is approaching the tenth anniversary of publication and has been fortunate to be recognized for his writing, including by the American Library Association, which named Poz a 2016 Recommended Title, and an Honorable Mention for “Transformation,” in Innovation, Volume 6 of Queer Sci Fi’s Flash Fiction Anthology.

Slider (Hades Abyss MC 3)

Vasha: My husband-to-be is a cruel, vicious man and I dread the day he claims me. When my bodyguard arranges my passage to America as a mail-order bride, I didn’t count on my husband being so handsome, or so tender. There’s just one problem… he doesn’t know we’re married! Slider is angry, and I don’t know how to fix things. Leaving is the hardest decision I’ve ever made.

Slider: Having the same woman in my bed every night is starting to sound more appealing. Or guy. I’m not picky. Love is love. But when my ex-lover left a naked woman in my bed, I was pissed… until I realize she’s in trouble. She needs me, and maybe I need her too. When she runs, I realize I seriously fucked up and I have to get her back.

Ashes (Devil’s Boneyard MC 7)

Nikki — Being tortured and watching the father of my child die has scarred me. They think I loved him, that I’m mourning, but I’m not. The horror of that day lurks in the shadows of my mind, and I can’t seem to break free. Not until Ashes drags me to my ultrasound and I see my son for the first time. I should have known Ashes would swoop in like a knight on his shining Harley to save the day.

Ashes — I’ve loved Nikki for years, but I can never tell her. Renegade, her brother, would kill me if he knew. I never counted on taking her home with me, or getting caught in the shower with her. But our happily-ever-after isn’t quite in reach. I vow that I’ll do whatever it takes to get back to her. It never occurred to me that she’d be the one to save me.

Praise for Ashes (Devil’s Boneyard MC 7)

“You will not be disappointed! Wow!! [Nikki’s] been traumatized, but watch as she transforms back to her “badass” ways. Love Nikki!!… Ashes goes through his own trauma in this book and it’s painful and liberating watching him handle life from a different perspective. I highly recommend this book!”

BOOK REVIEW: Stunner (Bones MC) by Marteeka Karland #ContemporaryRomance #bookreview @marteekakarland

Suzie — I’m the youngest grad student at MIT, and to say other students resent me for it is an understatement. To top it all off, I miss my Stunner. He’s been with me through the darkest moments of my life, helping me pull myself back together. He’s seen me at my worst — I want him to see me at my best. If he’d just return my calls, I might be able to get myself around the mean girls (and boys) at school.

Stunner — To say I’ve got skeletons in my closet is the understatement of the century. Suzie deserves a man more suited to her station than me, and she definitely deserves a man who’s not a stone-cold killer. I have my uses. Protecting her body, heart, and soul is one of those. I just never expected to fall for the woman after the girl grew up.

Now not only has she run into a foul and vindictive bastard, my past has caught up to me, and there may be no way to keep from being swept back up into the madness. All I truly know is I won’t let any of it touch Suzie — even if it means giving her up. Forever.

MY REVIEW

5 – stars!

This isn’t the first book I’ve read in this series, but I think if you’re new to Bones (or Ms. Karland), you can easily read this story without having picked up all the others first. She did a great job of introducing characters in a way that makes it easy for someone to jump in mid-series without feeling lost.

If you enjoy an age-gap romance, this one is a must! Stunner is both gruff and sweet. The story isn’t lacking in heat, nor suspense. While it isn’t as gritty and raw as a lot of MC romances, it still landed firmly on my “want to read again” list. The violence “on screen” is extremely light, although there is talk of what happens to some of the characteres, as well as hinting at what Suzie has suffered in the past.

I loved the relationship between Suzie and Stunner. Seeing his softer side when it came to her, and how hard he tried to be what she needed, made my heart melt. It’s an emotional, page-turning ride that you shouldn’t pass up!
