One touch. One look from Morgan’s hypnotic eyes and Skye can’t deny the magnetic pull.

High school senior, Morgan Raines was used to change, whether it was transferring to a new school or shifting into a were-jaguar under the full moon. Starting over didn’t bother him, but finding his mate pinned to her locker by her looser ex-boyfriend does.

Will turning furry during the full moon send her running scared or into his arms?

EXCERPT

As Skye put her books in her locker, Chris sneaked up behind her.  Turning, she looked up into his eyes.  If she was honest, she’d admit that she wasn’t surprised to see him.  Chris had been following her all over school for the past week.  It seemed that every time she turned around he was right in front of her, like a lost little puppy. Except puppies were cute.

“Hey babe, what’s up?  What do you say to you and me having lunch together today?” he asked with a cocky grin, seeming sure her answer would be yes.

“No thanks.  I have to go over some homework before I turn it in,” Skye told him, hoping the discussion was over. But she had a feeling it wouldn’t be that easy to get rid of him.

“Homework?  Ditch the homework and have some fun!  Sit with me,” Chris cajoled.

“I said no, Chris!” She wondered why he kept pestering her. Any girl in school would gladly go with him wherever he wanted. Any girl but her.

“Aw, come on!”

“No!” Skye replied adamantly.

“Okay, but if you won’t have lunch with me, at least give me a kiss.”

“Chris, why can’t you just leave me alone?” Skye asked, starting to get irritated.  When was he going to get the message?  How many times did she have to run him off before he finally understood she just wanted to be left alone?  He’d had his chance with her and blown it.

“Come on, you always liked kissing me!  What’s a little kiss between friends?” he asked with a smile that had once curled her toes.

“Nothing,” she replied.

“Well, there you go.  Come on, babe.  Please?” Chris continued relentlessly.  She doubted that he wanted her; it was more the challenge she presented. Ever since she’d pushed him aside, he’d hounded her every step.

“Who said that we were friends?  I remember telling you that I never wanted to see your face again. So, why are you in front of my locker?” she asked.  Why won’t he go away? Where’s a teacher when you need one? She glanced down the hall.

“Okay. I tried to be nice, but maybe you prefer guys who just take what they want.”

Chris advanced on Skye. He all but growled at her until her back was against the locker.  He put an arm on either side of her, pinning her in place. She had no way of escaping.  Just as he started to lean in to kiss her, someone tapped him on his shoulder. Skye, for one, was grateful for the interruption.

“What?” he asked, turning to face the interloper. He pierced the intruder with a glare.

“I believe she said no,” the new guy answered quietly.

“And just who the hell are you?” Chris sneered, eyeing the guy from head to toe. “In case you weren’t aware, Skye and I are an item.”

The boy grinned. “Are you sure about that?”

Skye used the distraction to slip under Chris’s arm. She quickly put some distance between them, moving to stand beside the new guy.  She didn’t know who he was, but he had excellent timing.  If he hadn’t come along right then, Chris would no doubt be pawing her at this very moment, more so than usual.

The boy reached out and took Skye’s hand, a current running through both of them.  If he was surprised, he hid it well.

“Come on, I’ll walk you to your class,” he said, giving her hand a gentle tug.

Skye smiled her thanks and walked off with him, leaving an angry Chris glaring after them.

* * *

“Thanks… for what you did back there,” she said after they were a few feet away.

“No problem,” the boy murmured.

“I’m Skye by the way.  And the jerk back there was Chris,” she jabbered, trying to fill the silence.  Her body was hyper aware of the hot guy holding her hand, more so than it had ever been of a guy.

Glancing at him from the corner of her eye, she almost stopped breathing.  He was easily the most gorgeous boy she’d ever seen.  He topped her five-foot-one inches by over a foot.  He was tanned with sandy brown hair shot through with golden highlights.  His chiseled features made her mouth water. If he weren’t a high school student, she’d think he stepped off the cover of a magazine.

“I take it you used to date,” he commented.

Skye nodded, pulling her gaze from his face before she was caught staring. “Until I caught him making out with one of the cheerleaders.  I told him it was over, but he refuses to listen. He thinks he’s God’s gift, or something along those lines.”

He grunted in response.

“He wasn’t like that when we first started dating,” Skye said, trying to explain away Chris’s behavior.

He gave her a skeptical look.

“Where exactly are we going anyway?” he asked, looking around the hall.

“Oh, um, two doors down on the right.  I have English next,” Skye answered.

He grinned. “That makes two of us.”

He continued holding her hand all the way to the classroom.  As they approached the door, he dropped her hand and motioned for her to go in ahead of him. Following Skye into the classroom, he grabbed the empty seat next to her.  Setting his books down on the desk, he glanced her way and caught her watching him—again.  She was so embarrassed. It wasn’t like her to fawn over someone, especially someone she’d just met.

He flashed her a grin and faced forward as the teacher stepped into the room.

EXCERPT

Prologue

Cassie woke up in a cold sweat, heart pounding and gasping for breath.  The sheets were tangled around her legs and twisted in her sweat slicked palms. She’d been gifted with the sight—able to see ghosts, and occasionally she would get premonitions through her dreams.  This one had scared her more than most. She blinked the moisture out of her eyes as her vision adjusted to the darkness of the room around her.

“Shhh, it’s okay.  You just had a bad dream,” a deep masculine voice soothed, strong arms wrapping around her body.

Cassie looked up into Matt’s ruggedly handsome face.  How many nights had he helped her through horrifying dreams?  How many times had he been there for her when no one else was? Matt had been her rock ever since they met, and his presence always soothed her. He was her best friend and she wasn’t sure what she would have done without him.

“It seemed so real,” she whispered, resting her head on his shoulder, enjoying the comfort his strength lent her. It wasn’t often he held her like this, but when it happened she melted into his embrace.

“I’m sure it did, but you’re safe and sound in your bed at home.  Nothing is going to harm you,” he assured her, stroking her hair softly.

Cassie nodded her head, but wasn’t quite ready to go back to sleep, worried the dream would return.  Flickers of the gruesome scenes tormented her. A crime not yet committed, and one she wouldn’t be able to stop, just like all the others. Why was she plagued with the horrific visions if she couldn’t help? The people involved were often faceless entities. Sometimes she felt the helplessness of the victims and other times the surge of anger or lust from the perpetrator.

“Thank you for being here,” she murmured.

Matt chuckled softly in her ear. “Where else would I go?  I can think of no one else I’d rather haunt.”

Closing her eyes, Cassie laid back down with a slight smile on her face.  She was never quite sure if Matt preferred to haunt her over anyone else because she could see him, or if he truly enjoyed her company. Opening her eyes, she realized Matt had disappeared.  Sighing, she rolled to her side and tried to go back to sleep, ignoring the ache she felt inside whenever he was near.

Being in love with a ghost sucked.

Chapter One

Cassie woke the next morning to sunlight streaming through the window, the warm rays caressing her face.  It looked like it was going to be a beautiful autumn day, the orange and red leaves outside rustling in the breeze.  She stretched and glanced at the clock, a gasp escaping her lips as she noticed the time.  She’d overslept and was going to be late.  Jumping out of the bed, she ran into the bathroom, flicking the light on as she shut the door.

Cassie turned on the shower, letting the water warm while she brushed her teeth and untangled her hair. When she stepped into the watery paradise, she shut the shower curtain and just stood under the stream for a few minutes, letting the heat soak into her. She picked up her strawberry shampoo, squeezing a generous amount into her palm before working it through her long locks. As the suds washed down the drain, she thought about the day ahead.

Today was the beginning of an adventure.  She was going out of town with two of her best friends.  Whispering Lake, North Carolina seemed like the perfect get away vacation.  A girls’ only trip that Cassie hoped would include a hot guy or two. Preferably of the living variety. She might love Matt, but there could never be anything between them, nothing more than friendship.

Snatching her loofah off the hook on the wall, she poured her favorite body wash on it and began scrubbing herself from head to toe. When she was finished, she took a moment to shave before shutting off the water and getting out. The air was cool and goose bumps erupted across her skin as she wrapped her towel around her body. She grabbed another towel out from under the sink and wrapped it around her hair, squeezing the moisture from the tresses.

The mirror had fogged over and she swiped her hand across the surface, clearing a swatch of glass so that she could see herself. She smoothed moisturizer on her face, then picked up her body lotion and slathered the cream on her arms and legs. When she opened the bathroom door, a puff of steam billowed out into her bedroom. She dried off in a hurry and pulled on her favorite blue sweater and most comfortable pair of low-rise jeans. Slipping on a pair of low-heeled boots, she pulled her suitcase out from under the bed, tossing clothes in as she pulled them out of drawers and off of hangers.

Grabbing a small bag out of her closet, she gathered her bathroom essentials, cramming them in the case.  With her hands on her hips, she surveyed the room. Had she forgotten anything? Toothbrush? Check. Socks and undies? Check. Cassie nibbled her lower lip as she looked around, feeling as if something was missing, yet not able to find anything amiss.

Cassie caught her reflection in the mirror across the room and walked over to it.  Her hair was still soaked and she groaned as she realized she was going to be even later. Hurrying into the bathroom, she clicked on the hairdryer and began drying the long, chestnut tresses that hung nearly to her waist. With her green gaze fastened on her reflection, she made quick work of taming her wild hair. She turned off the hairdryer and ran a brush through the length, untangling the mass. When she was finished, she tossed her hairbrush into the small case on the bed and zipped it up.

Picking up both cases, she turned around and headed toward the bedroom door, pausing when she felt a chill in the air. She turned and smiled when she saw Matt sitting on the edge of her bed, gorgeous as always. Frozen forever at the age of twenty-seven, he would always look youthful and far too sexy for his own good. Or hers. It had been fifty years since he’d been murdered, but his arms still bulged with muscles, his waist was just as tapered as it had been the day he’d breathed his last. His sandy hair fell over his forehead, his blue eyes looked troubled.

“Leaving without saying goodbye?”

Cassie smiled. “It’s easier to say goodbye when you’re here.  I thought you had forgotten that I was leaving today.”

She put her bags down and walked over to Matt.  Sitting on his lap, she threw her arms around him in a big bear hug.  This was one of the times Cassie didn’t mind her gift so much.  While she had trouble speaking with most living guys, she was able to be herself with Matt and could talk to him about anything.  They had been best friends since the day they met six years before.

“I didn’t forget, but I had hoped you would change your mind.  I don’t like the idea of you being gone for a week,” Matt told her with a worried expression. “Anything could happen to you and I wouldn’t be able to stop it.”

“You’re just afraid that you’ll miss me and be lonely.” Cassie looked at him and grinned.

“I already know that I’ll miss you, but that isn’t why I wish you would stay here.  I just have a bad feeling about this trip of yours.” Matt sighed and buried his face in her neck.  “I wish that I could go with you, watch over you. Something feels off, like something bad is coming.”

Cassie sighed and snuggled closer to him. She would love nothing more than to have Matt with her over the next week, but they had both researched the matter extensively and hadn’t found a way for him to leave Ashton Grove.  Well, that wasn’t entirely true.  Cassie knew that she could bind Matt to her with magick, but she didn’t want to take away his free will.  What Cassie couldn’t figure out was what kept Matt in Ashton Grove.  He had told her on more than one occasion that he wasn’t from Ashton Grove and he hadn’t died in her small hometown.  If he had been able to leave the place of his death, why was he stuck in Ashton Grove now?  It didn’t make any sense.

“I wish you could come with me too, but we haven’t been able to find anything on the subject of ghosts traveling from one place to another.  I know there has to be a way, but we’re out of time.  My friends are leaving in less than two hours.”  Cassie kissed Matt on the cheek and stood up.  “I have to go.  I’ll miss you!”

“I’ll miss you, too.  If I find a way out of Ashton Grove, I’ll come and find you.”

One of my publishers, Coastal Escape Publishing, has decided to open their doors for new submissions. They are currently seeking Romantic Suspense/Mystery, Historical Romance, Paranormal Romance, M/M Suspense, and M/M Paranormal Romance. For more details, visit the Coastal Escape Publishing submissions page.

From personal experience, I can say that the M/M Paranormal and the Historical Romances do well. But then, I know other authors with Coastal are doing well in different areas. Just like with any publisher or author, it depends on the book. You’ll hit a grand slam with some, and others will end up being duds. Write what you’re passionate about because if you don’t like your story, your readers won’t either.

I currently have 4 books/novellas published by Coastal Escape under my name, and another under a pen name. I love my cover art and have found them to be friendly and easy to work with. Just remember, signing a contract is a serious matter and should not be taken lightly. Don’t agree to do something only to change your mind later because you begin to question yourself or your abilities.

My Dragon, My Dom by Dulce Dennison

Dragon1 3d

It’s the holiday season and sparks are going to fly…

Corbin Richters has been through one partner after another since joining the Blueberry Hill Police Department. But when he’s assigned a new partner, his dragon wakes up and takes notice. As if keeping his dragon under control isn’t hard enough, now he has to fight his body’s reaction to the delectable Josh Myers as well.

Josh doesn’t care that Corbin is gay. Secretly, he’s thrilled with that knowledge. But even if Josh is willing to take on the rough around the edges cop, even if he’s capable of bowing to the Dom, what’s he supposed to do when he catches a dragon by its tail?

Contains Consensual BDSM and M/M sex

EXCERPT

Corbin Richters watched the sexy-as-hell man walking through the door of the precinct, his blue uniform fitting snugly to his shoulders and chest, the silver badge gleaming under the florescent lights, his stride powerful and purposeful as he approached Captain Meeker. The dark hair on his head stood out in disarray, but it was artfully done, the waves beckoning to be touched in an intimate caress. His eyes looked green from this distance, and they took everything in, in a swift assessment that said he was ready for whatever danger that might be lurking within the precinct walls. Whoever he was, he wasn’t a rookie. No one got that hard-edged look, the look of a predator, the first day on the job. Corbin’s heart kicked in his chest and his hands clenched on top of the desk. What he wouldn’t give to peel away that uniform and see what lay beneath the crisp, blue material. He unconsciously licked his lips as he thought about trailing kisses along those broad shoulders. Corbin’s skin heated and his cock twitched in his pants. He felt his scales ripple under his skin and fought for control. Hell, here he was fantasizing over the man, and he wasn’t even sure if the cop was into men or women. Or both. It had been a long time since he’d had such a reaction to someone on first sight, and he wanted to explore the feelings a bit more.

“Damn.”

He cast a quick glance around. Had he said that out loud?

Corbin watched as the officer shook hands with the captain and then Captain Meeker pointed at Corbin. Why on earth was the captain sending tall, dark and sexy his way? Not that he was going to complain! He had to admit to being curious. What did the man’s voice sound like? Would he offer to shake hands? Would that little bit of contact arouse Corbin’s dragon even more? The beast was already more than a little intrigued.

The object of his desire strode across the room with panther-like grace, his movements fluid and beautiful, stopping at the edge of Corbin’s desk. The officer flashed him a smile, one that had his dragon—lusty beast—perking up considerably, and held out his hand. Corbin stood and shook it, an electrical current shooting up his arm, swirling down through his chest, and settling in his balls, making them draw up tight. His cock gave another jerk, but if the officer noticed —and something told Corbin that he had—he wasn’t commenting on it. Corbin had thought the man would pack a punch, but it still took him by surprise, this visceral reaction. He couldn’t remember the last time his dragon and he had been in total agreement on their choice of bed partners.

The man’s voice was crisp and clipped as he introduced himself. “Josh Myers.”

“Corbin Richters.” Corbin released Josh’s hand somewhat reluctantly, before he did something stupid, like jerk him closer for a different sort of embrace. As it was, he wanted to bury his nose against the man’s neck and inhale that incredible scent that was teasing him.

“It seems I’m your new partner,” Josh said.

Partner? Corbin shot the captain a look. No one had said anything about a new partner. Corbin had only been part of the Blueberry Hill Police Department for a little over a month, having been lucky enough to land the job within a week of hitting town. Already he’d gone through two partners. The men had claimed that Corbin was too rough and rude, but he knew the truth. They hadn’t wanted to work with a gay officer. Probably afraid it would rub off on them or some stupid shit like that.

“I take it this is news to you,” Josh said, that gorgeous smile flirting around his lips again. Lips that looked full and soft, the kind of lips a man could kiss forever.

Corbin cleared his throat, hoping to get better control of himself. “Yeah, I hadn’t heard that I was getting a new partner today.” He met Josh’s gaze. “But I’m glad you’re here.”

Too direct?

Josh’s smile broadened and there was something in his eyes, a warmth that told Corbin his advances might be welcome. He supposed time would tell. It was possible the guy was just being friendly and he was reading into things.

Corbin pointed to the desk butting up to his. “That will be your space. There should be some pens and paper in the drawer, but if not, we can hit up the receptionist on our way out.”

“Hitting the streets early?”

“I thought we’d swing by Espress Yourself and grab some coffee. There’s no charge to officers for a regular cup of coffee, and they usually have a few different kinds brewed. You have to pay for those fancy drinks though.”

Josh smiled again. “Sounds good. I can check out the desk when we get back.”

“The black SUV near the rear entrance is ours.”

Josh scanned him from head to toe. “I’m guessing your size has something to do with us getting the biggest vehicle. What are you? Six foot four?”

Corbin grinned. “Six-six.” Not that Josh was short. He had to be at least six-two.

They strolled out of the rear precinct door and headed to the SUV. Corbin popped the locks with the key fob and slid in.

“So…” Josh glanced his way as he snapped his seatbelt into place. “Your place or mine?”

Corbin swallowed the wrong way and coughed so hard he couldn’t breathe. “Pardon?” he croaked.

“For dinner tonight.” Josh held his gaze. “I thought it would give us a chance to get to know one another better. A couple of pizzas, some beer. Maybe put on a football game.”

“Uh…”

Josh smirked.

“Why don’t we start with that cup of coffee?” Corbin suggested. “You may discover I have bad habits and run the other way. I’ve never lost a partner in just one day and I don’t want to start now.”

Josh shrugged those powerful shoulders of his. “Suit yourself. I’m not the running type though.”

SPOTLIGHT: Dream Across Time

Hi all! Thank you for having me here today! 🙂

I’m pleased to share information about my new release, Journey Across Time, and the first book, Dream Across Time, with everyone. Journey Across Time is the second book in a renewed series of mine, which is now called Raritan Manor Ranch.

Many years ago in a state far away (Texas at that time), I started to write romance. Before that, as some of you may already know, I’d been into writing horror. Still am, but that’s a tale for another day under my other pen name. Anyway, at that time, I came up with ideas for a few stories that revolved around a particular family and a matchmaking cat who all lived in New Jersey. New Jersey is where I’d been born (even more years ago) and raised.

There was a house and piece of property up the road from my family’s place that I’d been enamored with and considered buying if it were ever to find itself on the market. Obviously, I never did make that particular real estate purchase since I live over two thousand miles away from it now, but I did the next best thing. I used it as the house in the series, though please note, I’ve taken artistic liberties with its architectural plans. 😉 The house on the cover does resemble what it looks like in real life. One of the pics I’ve included for this post is a blurry one, taken when hubby and I drove past it one day.

Some of you might notice that the first two stories (and the third one once it becomes available) seem familiar. The first three books in the Raritan Manor Ranch series had found a publishing home once upon a time, but alas, as some relationships go, that wasn’t meant to be a lifetime one. Back in their ex’s home, they had different titles and a different series name. Now the books have been given new life through Evernight Publishing. The fictional house and family in the stories have relocated to Nevada, word count has been added, the stories have been re-edited, and the current series title pays homage to a river in NJ that I grew up near. And, yes, the cat (who is modeled after my own fur baby) still plays a part in the stories.

Thanks for giving me a few minutes of your time! I do hope you’ll check out this series and my other books. 🙂

Journey Across Time by C.R. Moss

Raritan Manor Ranch, 2

Genres: Erotic, Paranormal, Time Travel, Romance

Heat Level: 3

Approx. Word Count: 23,750

There is magic on the ranch.

A woman examining life. A man on a quest. Time restores his spirit and her love.

Trent, a man in the past on a mission to discover where he belongs, embarks on a spiritual journey. His spirit guide, to his dismay, is a frisky feline named Myrddin. During a ritual, the cat brings the soul searcher forward into Julie VanAlder’s world.

Julie is attracted to the newcomer on the ranch, but his strange mannerisms and speech dictate she use caution, especially when she learns where he’s from. A botched relationship, supposed time travel, spiritual mumbo jumbo…it’s almost too much for Julie to take.

Can Trent make her believe in destiny and win her love before it’s too late?

Excerpt

But now Trent doesn’t even look like he was ever affected by the car ride. Amazed at how much energy he had, she sat up and crossed her legs. Boy, what a sight he is.

Trent, shirtless and showing off his built body, strolled from the water, moving with precision. The women around her tittered, whispering fast and lewd phrases about “the hunk.” Her gaze swung to one group of females whose attentions and words confirmed their obvious appraisals of the man. She looked back at Trent. His quadriceps rippled with each stride, fighting against the sand’s resistance. He stopped and wiped his forehead. Beads of water trailed down his light brown skin, glistening on him like pixie dust. He bent over, then quickly straightened. His long black hair made an arc in the air, casting off the seawater. Trent ran his fingers through his slick and shiny locks.

Poseidon come to life. Beautiful Greek god incarnate. Julie sighed. No wonder he’s making the women flap their lips. If one of her girlfriends were nearby, she’d be chatting up a storm with them about him too.

Her pussy warmed, as did her breasts. He seemed to be a heady dose of sizzling hormones just by looking at him, making her body flush with desire that rolled into a burning need.

She shook her head. Stop thinking about how handsome he is! Just friends. That’s all it can be. With him or any man since I don’t want my heart broken again.

He sauntered over and retrieved a bottle of water from a cooler. After taking a long draught, he proceeded to dump the water over his head. He ran his fingers through his wet hair again. A mischievous glint twinkled in his eyes. His gaze traveled over her, then to the other sunbathers around them. A smile lit his face and faint lines creased around his deep brown eyes, slanted provocatively.

She lifted an eyebrow. “What’s that look for?”

He chuckled. “I am astounded by all the scantily clad women…showing much more than just an ankle.” He watched a tall, thin blonde dressed in a bikini walk by, his head turning as she passed. “How decadent and scandalous…arousing, actually. I may not be able to contain myself.” His gaze whipped back to Julie and he winked.

Drawn to him by his charm, Julie rolled her eyes and smiled back. She couldn’t help it. Talk about arousing. His six-pack abs were right there, two feet from her face. All she’d have to do was lean forward, extend her hand, trail a finger along the dark divots of the muscles.

Excerpt

Autumn stared at the man in front of her. She’d heard the whispers in the pack and knew he’d gotten the scars on his face and arms from the demon attack several months before. The Ashton Grove pack had reached out to other packs seeking both men and women to grow their numbers after losing so many. Having lost her mate to a drunk driver, Autumn had taken the chance for a new start.

“Do you know why you’re here?” Gabriel asked.

“Aislinn told me to come here,” she answered softly.

“She seems to think you have a problem. If that’s true, why didn’t you go to Connor with the issue?”

“I don’t have a problem. I pay my rent on time and attend the pack functions. I promise I haven’t caused any trouble.”

His gaze softened. “No one said you were troublesome. They just think something is wrong. Have you had problems with anyone in the pack? Maybe a male who’s being too persistent?”

She shook her head.

“Perhaps one of the females has taken issue with you?”

She shook her head again.

Gabriel sighed. “Well, something has to be going on. Aislinn wouldn’t have sent you here if she didn’t have a reason.”

“I don’t want to cause any problems. I’ll pack my things tonight.” Autumn fought back tears, but one slipped down her cheek.

“Hey,” Gabriel said softly. “Easy, Autumn. I didn’t mean to upset you.”

He placed his hands on her shoulders, but she needed more comfort than that. She couldn’t remember the last time a man had touched her so gently. With a broken sob, she melted against him, wrapping her arms around his waist. At first, his arms held her loosely, as if he didn’t know what to do with her. But after a moment, he tightened his embrace and held her close. A hand stroked her hair.

Autumn knew she needed to pull herself together. It wasn’t the alpha’s fault she was crying. Living with her mate had broken her in some way. She’d thought his death would free her, but she couldn’t have been more wrong.

With a sniffle, she eased her arms from around him and took a step back, wiping the tears from her cheeks. Gabriel reached out and caught a stray tear as it dropped from her eyelashes.

“Better now?” he asked.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to…” She didn’t even know how to finish that thought. She didn’t mean to be so weak? To cry all over him? To disturb the solitude she knew he wanted? Maybe she was apologizing for all of it.

“It’s okay. Sometimes you just need to let it all out.”

BLURB:

All of his life, Grayson Blackpaw lived by the rules of the half-breeds. He heeded the warnings and fought to keep the animal within under control, only to have his father murdered by the very thing his kind could never harm. Even if it means cursing himself to spend the rest of his days as a beast, Grayson was going to find the human responsible and make them pay—with their life.

Shapeshifters exist. Summer Jenkins wouldn’t have believed it herself, if she hadn’t watched a cougar change into a man before her very eyes. It doesn’t hurt when the man is as delectable as Grayson, either. Utterly droolworthy, Grayson sends her pulse racing and her heart falling…fast. But when Grayson admits that he’s willing to give up everything for the sake of revenge, will love be enough or can nothing stop the curse of the beast?

EXCERPT:

Summer inched over on the couch until her knees brushed against his, and she placed her hand on his thigh. It was a simple gesture of reassurance but the heat of her hand seeped through the denim, branding his skin and shooting higher. Desire flooded his veins and Summer’s breathing hitched when she felt it course through him. “He wasn’t the only one to touch me in some way, Grayson.”

Beginning to slowly make her way up his inner leg, Grayson grabbed her wrist before she closed what little distance there was left. If she made it to her destination, he wouldn’t be able to stop himself. He was already growing rigid in mere anticipation of her touching his length. If she actually made contact, he would lose what little restraint he held on to.

“Summer. I would like nothing more than to pull that dress up, plunge deep inside and take you over and over again, letting you know exactly how much I want you. But, we can’t. I won’t take the chance of hurting you.”

“You’re not going to hurt me. Worrying that you will is enough for me to know that you won’t.”

“You can’t know that because even I don’t. Summer, you need to understand there’s a chance I will do exactly that.” Grayson shook his head and took a breath. He wasn’t sure he could explain the constant battle of wills that had been waging inside of him for as long as he could remember, or how he’d been losing, but he needed to try. It wasn’t him just being overly cautious, there was a real danger. If he lost what little hold he had on the cougar while he was with her, he didn’t know what would or could happen. Grayson didn’t even want to think of the possibilities. “The lure of our animal halves is strong. The more we give in to them, the stronger they become. The stronger they become, the more we give in to them. Without something to stop the progression, the animal and its instincts become the predominant half and slowly overpower the human’s ability to remain in control.”

“So the worst that can happen is you shift into the cougar. I can handle…”

Grayson shook his head to cut her off. That damn stubbornness of hers was more than a little frustrating. “No Summer, you can’t. The worst that can happen is not the cougar. It’s the beast.”

Excerpt:

Emily received some strange looks and frowns from the people she passed as she walked across the graveled drive towards the front entrance of Westbury Hall. She could appreciate their confusion. It was closing time for the stately home and the last of the visitors were being politely ushered out of the building, yet she was heading inside. What’s more, she’d been invited. She had a job to do.

An elderly lady stood in the porch smiling and nodding as she held the door open for those departing the property. Most of them seemed in no hurry to leave, stopping to make comments to the woman, thanking her for a lovely visit and so on. Emily waited patiently, allowing the patrons to leave before attempting to get in. When the staff member—most likely a volunteer, Emily thought—caught sight of her, she gave her a polite nod of acknowledgment.

Finally, the last of Westbury Hall’s visitors moved out, leaving Emily free to enter. Climbing the single stone step to the threshold of the front porch, she took the hand that had already been offered to her.

Shaking Emily’s hand with a surprising firmness, the woman said, “You must be Miss Stone.” Her smart appearance and the intelligence in her eyes indicated that despite her advancing age, she was far from past it, “I’m Mrs. Thompson, house supervisor.”

“I am,” replied Emily, dropping her hand back to her side, “but please, call me Emily. It’s lovely to meet you. So, house supervisor? Do you live on site?” Not a volunteer, then, but a paid member of staff.

Indicating Emily should step inside the entrance hall, Mrs. Thompson proceeded to close and lock the porch and front doors of the house, securing them in.

“I do,” the older woman said, turning back to face Emily, “I have rooms in a separate building just off the back of this one. So you needn’t worry about me disturbing you.”

“Oh no,” said Emily, worried she’d inadvertently rubbed Mrs.  Thompson up the wrong way, “I didn’t mean that. I was just curious, that’s all. You’re more than welcome to see me at work, Mrs. Thompson, although I’m afraid you won’t see anything terribly exciting.”

Mrs. Thompson smiled now, the warmth reaching her eyes. Emily almost sagged with relief. She’d yet to see the extent of the work she had to do, but she’d been told it was no easy task, so she could be here for some time. The last thing she needed was to upset any of the staff.

“Oh, you’d be surprised, my dear. This is a fascinating old place. Of course, all these old houses have history, but Westbury Hall’s is particularly rich.”

Emily smiled. The woman’s enthusiasm was infectious. “Well then,” she replied, “I can’t wait to learn more about it. I hope you’ll feed me some historical tidbits throughout the time I’m here?”

Mrs. Thompson gave an enigmatic smile. Then, startling Emily somewhat, she turned smartly on her heel and walked deeper into the house. “Come, my dear, I won’t hold you up any longer. I’ll show you to the library, where you’ll soon start uncovering Westbury’s illustrious history for yourself.”

SPOTLIGHT: The Bear Treatment

Thank you so much for having me here today with the fourth instalment in my Projects Series, The Bear Treatment.

This didn’t actually start off as part of the series, but the more I wrote, I realized that this story was set in the Projects world. I had a choice, change the rules, or go with it. As per usual my characters gave me no choice but to go with it. They are after all firmly in charge, and if I have learnt one thing, especially when writing shifters, it’s that resistance is futile. Especially, when that shifter happens to be a bear. There is something about bear shifters, that just makes them even more dominant, and Luke Masterton is no exception.

He’s been lusting after his cousin’s best friend ever since she sprouted curves to die for. Now that she is available, in his spa, and actually expressing an interest in the lifestyle—well…

She’s most definitely in for this bear’s treatment.

Blurb:

There’s nothing quite like being dumped by another good-for-nothing boyfriend to focus a girl’s mind. Fun has been missing from Louisa’s life for far too long, and a bit of wax play at the spa-with-a-difference is just what she needs to take her mind off her birthday.

What can possibly go wrong? It’s not as though the man she’s been secretly lusting after for years would turn up and see her in all of her wobbly bits glory, or give her one mind blowing orgasm after the other, is it?

That would mean she is getting the bear treatment. You know the one—ends up being mated to one droolworthy, dominant, bear shifter—and ticks off the council no end. One thing’s for certain. After this birthday nothing will be the same again.

Be Warned: BDSM, spanking, wax play, anal play

Excerpt:

When he bit down on her clit her orgasm rushed through her with so much force that she screamed and bit her lip hard enough to taste her own blood, in an effort to muffle that scream.

They were on top of a crowded restaurant, for God’s sake. If she turned her head she could see the people dining below. All it would take was for one of them to look up and they would see her sprawled along the table with Luke once again lapping at her cream as she gushed her juices into his waiting mouth. The thought that one of the diners would look up, made her orgasm burn hotter, and with her body still shaking in delicious aftershocks she almost didn’t notice the slight pressure against her little puckered hole until Luke slipped a slick finger wet with her own arousal knuckle deep into her ass.

She would have bowed off the table had his hot hand on her tummy not held her down, and she lost herself in the heated stare of his golden eyes as their gazes connected.

“That’s my girl.” His voice had dropped an octave, dripping in lust, and her body went limp under his possession. “This ass and this pussy are mine to do with as I please are they not, my sweet Lou?”

He pushed deeper into her butt, and she gasped at the burning pain of another finger slipping past that ring of muscle. Discomfort gave way to heat when he started to thrust those two fingers in and out of their tight confines, and added the thumb of his other hand to her clit and rubbed that sensitive bundle of nerves in small circles designed to push her over the edge once more.

The strange sensation in her ass awakened unused nerve endings, and she clamped around his digits, increasing the heady sensations bombarding her.

“That’s it, my sweet. Ride those fingers. I can’t wait to see your little hole stretched with a butt plug to prepare you for my cock, and you will let me take you back here, won’t you?”

The veins on his neck stood out, his smile showed his fangs, and with the eyes of his bear looking down on her he never looked more the wild animal he had inside than right now. The thought should have terrified Louisa, but instead it had the opposite effect on her. She was his prey, his for the taking, and the thought turned her on even more.

“Yes, yes, God yes, I’m yours to do with as you please, Sir.”

Her whispered answer made him step up his assault on her senses, and everything inside of her drew tight as she climbed up those rungs of lust until the world narrowed to just the feel of his fingers in her ass, and his big body covering her.

Luke bent closer, not once slowing his fingers as they fucked her into another orgasm, and then he kissed her. His tongue mimicked the action of his digits, and she kissed him back until her lungs screamed at her they needed air, as her body shook in the grip of the tremors wracking through her. She winced when he withdrew his fingers from the tight clasp of her ass, and then gasped when he shrugged out of his shirt. The man’s torso was magnificent and sprinkled with liberal amounts of hair that she wanted to run her fingers through. His pectorals flexed as he threw the shirt across the room, and she let her gaze admire the play of muscles. The way his hair thickened to a dark trail that acted like a beacon to his magnificent cock. Despite her earlier attention to that particular body part, he was once again erect. Veins ran along the length of the impressive organ, and the thick mushroom head glistened in the muted lighting of the room. Louisa licked her lips, suddenly desperate for another taste of his salty musk, and Luke laughed. Low and menacing, the sound was more animal than human, and set her arousal to fever pitch.

“Not this time, my sweet. This time I want to bury my cock into your tight cunt. I want to see your lips stretched around my girth, as you struggle to take all of me, but you will, won’t you, pet? You’ll milk my cock like the good little subbie you are, and you’ll gush your cream all over my dick again and again, won’t you?”

“Yes, Sir.” How she managed to force the words past her kiss swollen lips she would never know. Her gaze was riveted to his cock, where Luke was fisting himself slowly. He squeezed the tip of his dick until his pre-cum slid on his fingers and with a wicked grin held those digits up to her mouth.

Louisa opened up eagerly, only too willing to taste him again, and she groaned when he hooked those fingers inside her mouth holding her in place while he ran the tip of his erection through her wet slit repeatedly. He bumped into her clit at every upstroke, sending jolts of electricity through her system, and her nostrils flared as she tried to breathe through her nose.

“Look at me, pet.”

His rough command made her eyes snap to his again, and she swallowed hard around the digits in her mouth. The intensity of his golden gaze was hard to take, as he pinned her in place with the sheer force of his will.

“You’re mine, and when I sink my cock into your cunt, I’m going to sink my fangs into your flesh and mark you as mine.”

Author Bio:

Glutton for punishment would be a good description for Doris… at least that’s what she hears on an almost daily basis when people find out that she has a brood of nine children, ranging from adult to toddler and lives happily in a far too small house, cluttered with children, pets, dust bunnies, and one very understanding and supportive husband. Domestic goddess she is not.

There is always something better to do after all, like working on the latest manuscript and trying not to scare the locals even more than usual by talking out loud to the voices in her head. Her characters tend to be pretty insistent to get their stories told, and you will find Doris burning the midnight oil on a regular basis. Only time to get any peace and quiet and besides, sleep is for wimps.

She likes to spin sensual, sassy, and sexy tales involving alpha heroes to die for, and heroines who give as good as they get. From contemporary to paranormal, BDSM to F/F, and Ménage, haunting love stories are guaranteed.
