If I won the lottery…

Well, first I’d have to play to have a chance at winning. After you throw money away week after week and don’t get so much as ONE number correct, it all seems pretty pointless. I decided I’d rather spend my money on coffee and books.

But if I did play and I had a winning ticket, what would I do with the money?

So. Many. Things.

I’d buy my dream home. It’s not a particular house so much as a house that has certain things. Like four bedrooms, no less than two full bathrooms (three would be awesome), an office for me with a door I could shut, a gameroom for the kids, a  man cave for my husband, an inground pool, dog run for my daughter’s huge dog, privacy fence, and a storage building for holiday decorations and the bikes. I’d refuse to spend a time of money on a house though, so there would be LOTS leftover.

After I had my dream home, I’d pay off all our bills (medical and otherwise), then I’d give my parents a chunk of money each so they could payoff something(s) as well. My grandmother is in assisted living, and I know it’s expensive (to the tune of $4000 a month) so I’d make arrangements to cover her expenses for a while. I spent a great deal of my childhood with her since she usually dropped me off at school and picked me up. I’d pay for my Poppop and Mimi to take their dream vacation, and I’d make sure my Nana had a little nest egg too.  Needless to say, I’d make sure that any family who were struggling would get a hand up. Both my kids would have college funds so they could attend any university of their choosing.

I’d also love to donate to a few worthy causes, like House of Mews in Memphis, World Wildlife Fund, Memphis Zoo, St. Jude Hospital, American Cancer Society, and the Lupus Foundation.

And I think it goes without saying that I’d set aside a marketing budget for future book releases. 🙂

The majority of what’s left would be invested.

What would you do if you won the lottery?
