Thousands of years ago, the dols and the orcs disappeared from the aquatic planet of Mediria because the three races refused to stop warring with one another. Their departure in huge space ships so shocked the Medirians, Aradabs, and Nissians that the three races immediately ceased all hostilities and vowed to work together to find the dols and orcs and bring them home.

Meri: When Lillalistross don al’ Ademis of Drakan, the planet orbiting the Medirian sun exactly opposite Mediria, returns a kidnapped child to the Aradab, the tattoo on his chest catches the attention of Princess Merilinlalissa. Meri is convinced the tattoo, his clan totem — a dol leaping from the waves of a rolling blue sea — is connected with finding the dols and the orcs, and she’s going to find out how. The fact that he’s tall, handsome, and very sexy only makes her more determined to discover all she can about him.

Brianna: Brianna does what any decent human would do — she rescues a pair of aliens her boss is about to dissect and gets them back to their spaceship. Captain Alalakan don al’ Cardadon isn’t about to let Dr. Bakom conduct his ridiculous sexual experiments on an inhabitant from a newly discovered world, even if it means he has to marry her. Besides, he wants her — in his bed, on the floor, against the wall, and anywhere else he can think of. Brianna finds herself hurtling through space married to a very sexy alien — with a very flexible tail — from a planet where hedonism is the norm, and there are three sexes — male, female, and hermaphrodite. But Dr. Bakom wants Brianna, too, and he is willing to do anything to get her back.

Sheala: The virile lion man with golden hair, tufted ears, and an Alalakan dragon tattoo on his shoulder fascinates Sheala. Hoping Marljas will heal her physically and mentally, Sheala initiates the blood ritual that would bind her to him forever. The fire he ignites in her soul does much, much more.

Excerpt from Meri

“Men are idiots!” Meri growled as she stomped down the long hall toward her parents’ private apartments. Vibrant murals of ocean creatures leaping among foaming waves adorned the left wall of the corridor while on the right a soft, salty breeze wafted through the open, floor-to-ceiling windows and swirled amongst the gauzy blue-green curtains.

Meri ignored the colorful dance. “Idiots, idiots, idiots! All of them!”

“Surely you aren’t talking about me, Coz?”

Stopping abruptly, Meri spun around and glared at her cousin. Then, after shaking her head and mumbling a curse under her breath, she launched herself against his chest and wrapped her arms around him. “Ban! When did you get back?” Leaning back in his arms, she cocked an eyebrow and stared into his handsome face. “And you know very well you aren’t an idiot. You may be a scoundrel, a womanizer, and an unrepentant drain on the royal coffers, as Grandmama likes to say, but you are not an idiot.”

His grin widened and he bussed Meri’s cheek. “If you hadn’t been complaining about men, I’d blame your snit on Grandmama. What’s wrong? Every servant I’ve encountered is tiptoeing around like there’s a wet Gattan in the palace.”

Pushing herself out of his loose embrace, Meri tucked her hand under his arm and led him down the corridor at a much more sedate pace. “Oh, it’s Grandmama’s fault all right. She refuses to acknowledge that I’ve abdicated my status as heir to the throne, has stated it’s time I married and has told Tendallis Davenet that he is the perfect consort. What’s more, she told him that Father completely agrees with her!”

A short bark of laughter exploded from her cousin’s throat. “Tendallis Davenet? That pompous imbecile? Why him?”

Meri ground her teeth. “Because his family is old and has royal blood in their ancestry. Something like ten generations ago, one of the daughters married the fourth son of the king, which, according to Grandmama, makes Tendallis the most logical choice for my husband. Not ten minutes ago, that pompous moron accosted me on the beach, patted my hand and told me not to worry my pretty head about governing Mediria. He’ll take care of all that. I’d only need to raise the children.” Meri snorted. “As if he’d have any idea how to govern our peoples!” She snorted again. “As if I’d allow it! He’d have us at war with both Varce and Gattan in a week’s time. But it doesn’t even matter, damn it! I am not going to be Mediria’s next ruler! Why won’t Grandmama believe me?”

Pulling Meri to a halt, Ban turned her to face him. “Because she refuses to accept that everyone won’t bow to her wishes. Calm down, Coz. You’ve abdicated and your father and the Council have accepted it. Ignore Grandmama. I do.”

After staring into her cousin’s grinning face for a few seconds, Meri felt her lips twitch. As usual, he was right. She was getting worked up over nothing.

He cocked his head to the side and chuckled. “Besides, you wouldn’t have made a very good queen anyway. You spend too much time thinking about sex. Are you sure there isn’t a bit of Drakian blood somewhere in the royal line — other than mine, that is?”

Without warning, Meri punched Ban in the stomach and got a great deal of satisfaction watching him double over. “Bandalardrac Hardan! Just because you’re half Drakian and obsessed with sex doesn’t mean anyone else in the family is!”

Hands on her hips, Meri watched her cousin cough and wheeze as he stood doubled over with one hand braced against the wall. More than once she’d rued the day that she’d cornered her cousin with some very specific questions about sex, but he’d been the one person she knew would answer her honestly. Sure, she could have asked her mother, but somehow she didn’t think the current queen of Mediria would be very comfortable talking about sex toys.

Ban, on the other hand…

Shaking her head, Meri once again forced herself to admit Ban was the best-looking member of her extended family. Her cousin Bandalardrac was a very attractive man — too damned attractive for his own good. Even without the tail his Drakian relatives possessed, half the women on two planets wanted him in their beds, and, according to gossip, he’d been in most of them. Who better to ask about kinky sex?

She pursed her lips. Was Ban right? Did she think about sex too much? It wasn’t like she’d had all that much experience. Being a Medirian princess made casual sexual relations hard. There was always the chance her partner would begin to get ideas about becoming her consort, and she had yet to meet a man who she’d even consider marrying. Her grandmother’s choice was definitely unacceptable. Oh, Tendallis was handsome enough by Medirian standards, but he was also pompous and arrogant. She could never marry a man who thought he was better than almost everyone else.

Ban’s voice pulled her from her musings. “By all the seven hells, Meri,” he finally gasped. “Who taught you to punch like that?”

She snorted. “I spent six months with the Aradab Matriarch. She said I needed to learn a few things.” Meri didn’t even try to keep the satisfaction from her voice. Grabbing Ban’s arm, she pulled him forward. “Come on. Father and Mother will want to know you’re back.”

String of Pearls by E.D. Parr #LGBT #GayRomance #scifi #NewRelease @parr_books @evernightpub

Thank you for inviting me to your blog today with new release MM romance,

String of Pearls

The story is set in the same SciFi fantasy city as last year’s release, The Dreamboat.

Indigo Vaughn, the warlock head of security, features in the story along with a new cast of characters. When I wrote The Dreamboat, I already had the new characters in my head along with their story. Tobias Mars and Dante Pepper, the elite space pilots for the royal court, very nearly made an appearance in The Dreamboat, but because that story is about Indigo at last finding love, I decided they needed their own story.

Once upon a time Dante and Tobias were close to becoming lovers, but Dante met Viridian and fell in love. Tobias has yet to meet his love when String of Pearls, opens. He’s a man of high integrity, handsome, caring, but also longing for love and sex. String of Pearls is his love story.

READ AN EXCERPT

Tobias Mars gazed at Dreft lying on top of the bed in room ten of the infirmary. Hari’s treatment had worked wonders and not only on Dreft’s wounds. Hari had cleaned Dreft up. His hair, now a dirt-free glossy hazelnut brown was brushed back to show off the handsome planes of his face. Hari had replaced Dreft’s strange boy-like clothes with the infirmary’s grey cotton pants and t-shirt. The man was, as his colleague, Dante, put it, deliciously pretty. For a fleeting moment, Tobias wondered what it would be like to kiss those perfect lips and hold that muscular body to his own. He shook the thought away.

Dreft opened his eyes and a shy smile spread on his mouth. As Tobias neared him, he shuffled up the bed to sit. “Thank you so much for helping me, sir.”

Tobias pulled a chair beside the bed and sat. “My name’s Tobias, Tobias Mars—no need to call me sir. How are you feeling?”

The handsome man’s eyes held gratitude. “I’m so much better. Thank you. I noticed the insignia on your jacket, sir.”

Tobias grinned as his fingers went to trace the gold and blue embroidered crest. “I’m one of the queen’s pilot explorers. I guess you could call us the elite unit. All the same, call me Tobias. I’d like that.”

“I’ve heard that you have to be aristocracy to be chosen for the unit. Is that true?”

A little frown creased between Tobias’s eyes. “Have you? Where’d you hear that?” A spike of worry prevented him from answering with the truth. His intense security training from the warlock, Indigo Vaughn, threw a question into his mind. Could Dreft be a rival court’s spy or even assassin?

“Sorry. I mean no harm. I heard a lot of things during my years as a slave.” Dreft’s voice held anxiety. His blue eyes clouded.

Witnessing Dreft’s unease, a wave of kindness softened Tobias’s look and tone. “How long were you a slave?” He remembered Hari’s description of the scars on Dreft’s back.

Sadness passed in Dreft’s eyes. “Five years—I’ve been a slave since I was stolen from my home when I was eighteen. I, I’d become desperate, hence the leap from the ship when we cruised reasonably low to take water from the lake on the planet where you rescued me.” His voice cracked a little.

Tobias watched fear replace the sadness in the young man’s eyes. He wanted to lighten the mood. “Hey, are you hungry? I bet Hari hasn’t given you breakfast and I’ve not eaten yet. Do you feel up to a little walk? My home isn’t far. I have loads of food—fruit, pancakes, savory pastries, and coffee. What do you say?”

Dreft gave him the most endearing look. “I’m very hungry.”

Tobias stood and pushed the chair away from the bed. He held out his arm for Dreft to take and helped him stand. “Hang on. You have no shoes.” Tobias left Dreft perched on the side of the bed. He went to the closet inset at the end of the wall and brought back a pair of felt slip-ons for Dreft.

Dreft pushed his feet into them. “Thank you. I think the medicA threw away what I was wearing.”

“Hari is the best medicA available. I trust him implicitly, but he’s a hygiene fanatic. He probably burned what you were dressed in.” Tobias laughed. “Can you manage or will you take my arm. It’s a gesture of support.”

Dreft’s gaze raked Tobias’s face and he smiled softly. “I know the clothes you found me in probably gave you the impression I’m a pirate’s plaything. I’d like to explain—”

“You don’t need to—” Tobias hurried to assure Dreft.

“I want to.” He held Tobias’s arm.

“After you’ve eaten, then.” Tobias led the way from the room, along the corridor and out of the infirmary door. His villa was two doors down from Dante’s and he walked slowly favoring Dreft’s halting steps.

“I’m limping but Hari said my legs were only bruised under the abrasions. Sorry. I didn’t expect them to hurt so much. My ribs don’t and they were broken.”

“Hari fixed your ribs and administered slow release pain reliever at the site. He fixed your abrasions somewhat, but it’s good to heal naturally where possible. He wants you to rest.” A smile sprang to Tobias’s lips. “If he sees us, he’ll probably say to me, ‘Sir, you got Dreft Hann up too soon.’”

My leopard lounged in smug contentment in a corner of our shared mind, purring as she washed her paws.

“Gloating is unattractive,” I told her.

So is pouting. Why are you unhappy, Xīngān?

“I want to be left alone with my mate. There are too many demands on our time. Why can we not have a few days to ourselves?”

She laughed, knowing exactly what I wanted. It included a bed, a locked door, no comms, and definitely no clothes.

Be patient, little cub. You will have your whole lifetime to enjoy Dakar’s company once we finish our duties.

Heat blossomed in my belly as I thought of all the things I wanted to do to my delicious mate. Dakar inhaled sharply and glanced at me as our shuttle approached his ship, leaving the muddy ball of Earth behind us. His eyes darkened and he smirked, revealing the points of his canines. The sweet, musky perfume of his arousal filled my lungs and I hid a smirk. I wasn’t the only one who wanted that locked room.

The docking bay opened, its marker lights drawing a path into the belly of the ship. Akari whimpered behind us. I knew the eagle must be frightened, but I had no way of comforting her until we landed and the doors closed behind us. She was probably like most shifters; terrified and uncomfortable with confinement. The sensation must be worse for large birds.

My mother and sister would be able to help her. She would be more comfortable among female shifters. Jinjing’s calm presence would soothe her as well, but I doubted my sister by mating would leave Huang.

The bay doors closed behind us and the atmosphere equalized with a hiss of pressurized air. Dakar unfastened his harness and opened the shuttle doors. A male I didn’t recognize poked his head inside and grinned at Akari, but she hid her face behind the Dalai Lama.

“Welcome back, Commander. If you’ll step out, we’ll get you unloaded.” He disappeared from the door.

“Go ahead, and take the human with you. I’ll sit with Akari for a moment.”

Dakar blinked at me, giving me a questioning glance. “Are you –”

I glanced back at the young eagle. She was shaking badly and her pale skin darkened with the tracery of feathers. “I’m sure! We’re about to have a lot of trouble in here.”

He looked over my shoulder and frowned. “Miss Takamoto, I’m afraid you can’t shift in the shuttle.”

I growled and pushed him out. My leopard hissed and added a hard swat to his backside as he stumbled from the shuttle. Stubborn males! She chuffed out laughter as he stared at us from the deck. I’d have to apologize later.

“Akari, I’m sorry, but my mate is right. You can’t shift in the shuttle, but I know a place that will be big enough for you if you can hold it for a few more minutes.”

She exhaled, then wiped a hand over her face and stood up. “Yes, revered leopard. I’m ready.”

I took her hand and helped her step down from the shuttle. Males bustled everywhere and the noise of conversation and equipment was loud compared to the silence and peace of my home. I could hear Akari’s harsh breaths over the noise and the stench of her fear filled my nose.

She shifted several times as she tried to control her panic, making the males stop their work and stare. Their attention made her distress worse, and I wished I’d thought to clear the deck before taking her out.

Trying to control my irritation, I pushed my leopard’s strength out to encompass her in a bubble of peace. “Pick one shape, Akari. I don’t care what you do, but choose one and I will help you keep it.”

She whimpered one last time before settling on my arm, her feathers fluffed out to make her appear larger. I wished that I could hood her and tie jesses around her feet as the ancient falconers did. Her talons clenched tightly on my arm. The Ximeran fabric prevented them from digging into my flesh, though I knew she’d leave bruises.

She fought me with every step. Her immature body demanded that she protect herself against perceived threats. Her lack of control was worrisome and I knew we’d have to keep her secluded until she grew comfortable. I hurried through the corridors toward the holo, hoping I could keep her under control until we reached that place of safety.

Exhaustion from nearly twenty-four hours without rest made me irritable and easily angered. As the door shut behind us, I shook her from my arm. With a dismayed screech, she took to the air and perched on a branch above my head. I knew I shouldn’t take my aggravation out on her, but I was simply too tired to coddle her further.

“Someone will bring you food shortly, Akari. It will be a male, and I suggest very strongly that you don’t hurt him. You may hide if you wish.” Remembering the shy boy who served as the cook’s steward, I added, “Quite frankly, he’ll be more comfortable if he doesn’t see you. You will be confined here until you can regain control of your eagle.”

She flared her wings, clicking her beak angrily. I held my gaze on her until she settled, and said, “I’m sorry. I know you have troubles and I will speak with you later. Right now, I’m exhausted. My brother is badly injured, and I’ve insulted my mate. I must see them and rest before I can give you the attention you need.”

Adult Excerpt:

Cassie washed up and changed into a nightgown as Dax settled comfortably at the foot of her bed. She turned out the light and walked over to open a window, letting the fresh air in. She’d always loved falling asleep to the sound of the ocean. Two deep voices entered on the breeze along with the sounds of the surf, causing a shiver to run up her spine, and she realized that Deryc and Gage must still be on the patio enjoying the evening. Cassie sat on the window ledge and waited for her eyes to adjust to the darkness outside. When they did, the sight before her was nothing short of decadent.

Both men were lounging on one of the large patio chairs. Deryc’s arm was around Gage’s shoulder, and his other hand cupped the other man’s cheek as he took his mouth in a slow and sensual kiss. Her breath caught in her throat as she watched Gage’s hand move leisurely up his partner’s thigh until he rubbed along the thick, hard ridge of Deryc’s arousal.

I shouldn’t be watching this, like some kind of pervert… I’m invading their privacy, but holy hell, I think this is the hottest thing I’ve ever seen.

Knowing it was wrong and willing her eyes to close were two very different things, and Cassie had to bite her lip as Deryc’s deep voice came to her on the night breeze.

“I believe you owe me a proper show of gratitude, my mate.” Deryc growled as Gage’s fingers freed the thick cock from the confines of his partner’s pants. “Or did you forget you promised me that this morning?”

“Hmm.” Gage lazily kissed along Deryc’s jaw, his hand now slowly stroking up and down his lover’s cock. “Did I say that? I can’t remember now…”

Deryc’s response was immediate, and it made Cassie gasp as he pulled away and moved to cover the other man until Gage’s wrists were held above his head in each of his strong hands, and Deryc was now straddling his mate’s hips. In the moonlight, Cassie could see his cock jutting straight from his body, the thick length an even darker shade of grey than the rest of him. He towered over Gage like an avenging god.

“Keep your arms above your head, boy.” Deryc’s tone was unforgiving now, and by the look of the large bulge in Gage’s own pants, he enjoyed this game of dominance as much as his mate did. Cassie had never experimented with any BDSM play with Peter, but that didn’t mean she hadn’t thought or fantasized about it before, and now that she had a front-row seat, her body flooded with heat at the idea of being on the submissive end of Deryc’s firm authority just like Gage was now.

Deryc’s hands released Gage and began to undress, revealing his muscular body, the dark skin seeming to almost sparkle in the moonlight. Then he began the same process of removing Gage’s clothing, and the other man bit his lip, but left his arms where they were.

“Cassie could still be awake.” Gage’s words turned into a groan as Deryc’s hand now closed around his shaft, rubbing a glistening bead of moisture over the plump head. “What if she sees?”

“Mmm, think about that, my love.” Deryc’s hand moved faster on his lover’s flesh. “Just imagine those stunning blue eyes, her gaze roving over your hard and aching flesh like a caress. Perhaps she would like to join us even? I see now why you were so enamored with her when you first spotted her. She is quite remarkable.”

Gage only moaned louder at Deryc’s words, his hips pushing harder into the other man’s grip, causing a warm chuckle to escape his mate’s lips. “I see how much you like that idea, love. I can feel your cock buck in my grip as if it were trying to get inside of her even now.”

Holy fuck! Were they fantasizing about her? This time Cassie couldn’t stifle the groan as her pussy flooded at the idea of being out there on that couch with them, and it was so loud she startled herself, jumping back from the window in case her hosts heard it as well.

She needed that shock back to reality. “Jesus, Cassie, what is wrong with you?”

She didn’t want to think she was the kind of person who couldn’t control her own urges, but the fact that she hadn’t been able to help herself from watching Gage and Deryc’s intimate display meant they had much more power over her than she’d thought. Good grief, all she could hope for at this point is that they hadn’t heard her at all.

Pervy, sex-starved human … table for one, please.

Interview with Cynthia Sax and a peek at The Cyborg’s Secret Baby #cyborgs #scifi #authorinterview #romancebooks @CynthiaSax

I have the wonderful Cynthia Sax on my blog today! Everyone say hi!! Cynthia is a truly talented author I discovered quite a while back. I fell in love with her Demon Chronicles back in the day, and now she’s writing sexy cyborgs! I’ve already pre-ordered her upcoming book, and I can’t wait to read it!

Now, let’s find out a little more about Cynthia Sax, USA Today bestselling author.

When did you know you wanted to be a writer?

Cynthia Sax: I’ve always written. From the time I could hold a crayon, I’ve been writing stories. But it took a long time for me to realize writing could be a career.

I grew up dirt poor. We worked hard, all of it backbreaking manual labor, to earn every penny. Name a dirty thankless job. I’ve likely done it.

That someone would pay me for the thoughts in my head was beyond my comprehension.

But it happened! I was first paid for writing in high school. Two newspapers, a daily and a weekly, asked me to write for them. Although they mentioned paying me, I didn’t believe it until I received that first check.

I was being paid for writing! That concept blew me away!

Do you have a favorite type of hero or heroine to write?

Cynthia Sax:  My favorite type of hero to read and to write is the Beast hero. I could read a book a day with the Beauty and the Beast premise.

Why do I love Beast heroes so much? They’re raw and primitive, often in pain and often misunderstood. They have dark rich histories and are often survivors. I find them extremely interesting.

When you’re writing, do you prefer silence or background noise?

Cynthia Sax:  I normally start with silence and then if the words aren’t flowing, I’ll try a variety of background noise or music until something works for me. Every scene, every story is different and requires different things. Sound is one more tool in a writer’s toolbox.

What is the scariest thing you face as a writer? How do you handle it?

Cynthia Sax: The thing I fear most as a writer is disappointing readers. I fear this so much I often have trouble writing the next story.

How I work around this is ensuring I have the next story already written before the current story releases. There’s always one story between the most recent story, the one I’m currently receiving reader feedback on, and the story I’m currently writing. That distance allows the words to flow.

As a writer, I’m sure you also love reading. Do you have a favorite book and what do you love about it?

Cynthia Sax: Loretta Chase’s Lord Of Scoundrels is my benchmark book. It is the book I re-read when I’m getting lazy with my own stories. That book has so many layers. Every line means multiple things. That depth is what I aspire to achieve with my stories.

I know most authors have a love/hate relationship with it. Have you found that to be true, and do you have any recommendations for new or aspiring authors?

Cynthia Sax: (grins) Yes, I don’t know many writers who LOVE the marketing parts of our wonderful jobs.

I have a huge issue with self-promotion, I think many of us do.

I remind myself that while talking about my stories might seem like self-promotion, it truly isn’t. I have a team behind me – an awesome cover artist, a wonderful editor, a savvy formatter.

I’m merely the face of this team and, as its face, it is my responsibility to talk about the stories. No one will see my cover artist’s beautiful covers if I don’t show them to people. No one will see my editor’s incorporated insights or my formatter’s easy-to-use table of contents if I don’t put my stories in the hands of readers.

I have to promote my stories. I can’t let down the team.

The Cyborg’s Secret Baby

A fierce cyborg warrior and his curvy human female share a no-longer-so-little secret.

Stealth, a K Model cyborg, knows his passion for Zebrina, the commander’s human daughter, is forbidden, yet he can’t resist the curvy female. He craves her touch, cherishes her sounds of pleasure, would do anything to keep her safe.

When he’s faced with the choice of protecting his fragile human or living to see the next sunrise, he chooses her, always her, sending Zebrina halfway across the universe to safety. He doesn’t realize their stolen moments had consequences neither of them believed possible.

After hearing her warrior died in battle, Zebrina focuses on the last gift he gave her. Doing what is right for their child is her sole priority. She will put their son’s happiness first, even if that means choosing another male over the love of her life.
