THE CAST OF CHARACTERS: THREE SHADES CALLED HORACE
The Isle of Man is a mystical island set in the middle of the Irish Sea. It’s where Celtic lore and legends still survive under the protective, misty cloak of the sea God, Manannan.

ON THE ISLE OF MAN:
The psychic: Pansy Peonie Clutterbuck (née Schenk), also known as PP. She has been a friend of two of the Shades since childhood.
The Witch: Fenella Maureen Grady (PP’s mother), also a stand-up comic.
GHOST 1: Horace (Horatio) Walpole, a witty 18th century novelist and commentator. He coined the phrase “Serendipity”.
Ghost 2: Horace (Quintus Horatius Flaccus), the playful ghost. In the time of Caesar Augustus, he was a Roman poet, satirist, and critic. His most famous line is “Carpe Diem” – Seize the day.
GHOST 3: The super-cool Horace Silver – American jazz pianist and composer. He also developed a keen interest in spiritualism in the 1970’s.
THE FINANCIAL CONCEPTUAL ARTIST: Harry Ward Schenk is PP’s father, and like her, a devoted fan of Horace Silver’s music. Harry’s a good man, but with “light fingers”. He’s also a dreamer.
LONDON:
THE ANTAGONIST: Rollo Peter Mansell, a rapacious media mogul. He uses all the unethical tactics that earned Fleet Street its infamous nickname “The Street of Shame” – ruthless, aggressive behaviour, phone hacking and scandal mongering.
THE WOULD-BE HERO: Max Dalvert is Rollo’s young assistant. Max escapes the awfulness of his job, and of his unscrupulous father, Lord Dalvert of Chase Massingham, to dream of being like his hero, Sir Launcelot. He falls in love with Pansy, the psychic.
SUPPORTING CAST:
ANGELA: She’s a Chinese spy who was embedded in British society. She’s now on the run. She attended Benenden Boarding School, as did Princess Anne. (Get the picture?)
LAYA REMOULIAN: a sassy newscaster with a crazy, fake speech impediment. She pronounces her name “Liar”, and Laya is Rollo’s love interest.

SIMON VENABLES: Rollo’s main enforcer. Ex-military, he served in the Falklands War and in Afghanistan.
REEVE DANK: A hit man.
ERIC: Rollo’s Financial advisor.
MARTIN: A brilliant, convicted art forger who’s now going straight!
WILKESY: Max’s best friend and a journalist.
