Book 2 of the Perfect pairs series

MFM shifter contemporary erotic romance

The voluptuous Ashleigh flies into a small town at the base of the Rockie Mountains for two reasons; One, a holiday to clear her head and give her some space from her abusive ex-husband. Two, to attend her gorgeous cousin’s wedding. The last thing she expects to see is her beloved cousin Laura marrying two men, and to find herself irrationally attracted to another pair of twins.

Scientist Scott and Football-coach Jack are a perfect pair of Rockie Mountain lion shifters, who made the horrible decision when they were young to break from tradition. They each married a woman who made their lives miserable rather than search for their destined mate, and now into their mid forties they’re struggling with their everyday life.

All the signs show them that Ash is their true mate. Jack is eager and ready to chase, but Scott’s scars run deep. Will they be able to overcome their past to create a new future?

EXCERPT

“You came!” Laura cried and threw her arms around the woman in silver, who laughed and hugged her back.

Come on, come on.

Laura pulled back and stared at her cousin.

“You look like shit, Ash.”

Jack frowned at Laura. That wasn’t a nice thing to say to her cousin, let alone a woman that beautiful. Jack’s balls tightened as he took in her voluptuous figure. He usually dated women who were ultra fit and trained hard to minimize their body fat.

He was instantly converted to women with fuller figures. Such incredible breasts and lush hips should be admired, not exercised into nonexistence.

He’d never look at a woman’s body the same way again.

The woman Laura had called Ash, sighed. “Thanks, sweetie, I know. Whereas you look bloody fantastic.”

Laura did a twirl and stuck her hip out at an angle. Cheeky woman.

“Why thank you, darling. The love of a good man…and all that.”

Ash quirked an eyebrow at Laura. “Or men, perhaps?”

Laura blushed and stared at her cousin, her mouth tugging down. “Yeah…well…”

Ash, who Jack was dying to touch, smiled at Laura with genuine warmth and love. “As long as you’re happy, honey.” Next to him, Scott shifted from foot to foot, just as impatient as Jack himself. Laura whirled around, seemingly just remembering that they were standing there waiting.

“Oh, Ash, let me introduce you to Brandon and Tyler’s cousins. It’s common in their family for men to be born into nonidentical twin sets. This is Scott and Jack. Guys, this is my cousin Ashleigh.”

Jack jumped and stepped forward with his brother, their backs ramrod straight as they stared at the woman in front of them.

Ashleigh’s face turned cold, her mouth pulling down on both sides.

“Nice to meet you gentlemen.”

Her tone was like ice, yet Jack wasn’t deterred. Whatever her baggage, they could cope. God knew they had enough of their own.

He stuck out his hand at the same time as Scott. He would have laughed if the moment hadn’t been so serious. This was it. With this first touch they would know if Ashleigh was the woman they’d waited twenty-five years for.

She looked at their hands as though they were the lowest form of life, but neither of them dropped their arms away.

No fucking way, beautiful. Pick one. Touch us.

Finally, Ashleigh sighed and reached up to shake Scott’s hand.

Watching it happen rather than being the first one to experience it hit Jack in the guts with disappointment, but he didn’t even blink, in case he missed something.

As her hand connected with Scott’s, Ashleigh gasped and her face reddened. Her knees obviously weakened as she began to crumple and sink closer to the ground.

Jack jumped forward to catch her and electricity shot through his body, straight through his arms and into his core, making his body want to meet the dirt himself. He groaned in time with Ashleigh, and she dropped Scott’s hand to cling to him.

Jack forced all of his strength into his legs and locked his knees while pure pleasure replaced the electrical pain. Like a cleansing white light, it slid through his chest and down his arms and legs.

She’s ours.

Ash stared up at him, her blue eyes shocked and vulnerable. Her lips parted as she took a breath, and Jack fought off the need to kiss her. His heart was thumping in his chest, and his cock stirred in his suit pants.

Ashleigh began to struggle in his arms, her eyebrows lowering as her mouth took on an angry tilt. Jack reluctantly let go of her solid warmth as soon as he was sure she could stand, and she staggered toward Laura. His arms were still tingling like he’d lifted weights for too long, yet he yearned to have her back and pressed against him.

“What the fuck was that?” Ash spat at them.

Jack bristled and lifted his hand in a sign that everything was okay when he heard several male cousins around them growl in warning.

Jack shared a look with his brother, then stared back at Ashleigh. What was the next step now?

“Ash, how long are you here for?” Laura asked, forcing Ash to stop staring at them like they’d committed some sort of crime.

“A week or so. I took some leave.”

Hell yes! They had time to convince her that she had to stay.

“Brilliant. We’re going away for the weekend, but have honeymoon plans for the summer. Will you stay with us next week when we come home again?”

Ash glanced at Scott and Jack for a moment, her brilliant blue eyes troubled. She looked back at Laura, nodding slowly.

“Yeah, sure. I’d love to catch up properly with you.”

Jack cleared his throat and held out his hand to Ash once again. He may as well start the ball rolling. They had the weekend to woo her, and he didn’t want to waste a single moment.

“Would you like a tour of the property?”

Ash glared at him with impressive strength. If she’d been a mountain lion, her fur coat would have been bristling and standing on end.

“No bloody way, and keep your hands to yourself.”

Ash turned tail in a flurry of silver silk and beautiful brown hair. Her back was ramrod straight as she stomped her way up the steps and into the house.

She’s got spunk. He had to admit, he was already proud to call her theirs.

Laura giggled, drawing their attention.

“You two are going to have your hands full with Ash if she’s yours.”

SPOTLIGHT: Finding Home

findinghome1l

Left adrift after escaping from an abusive relationship and being constantly on the move in an effort to stay one step ahead of his abuser has left Salem Rooks with little in the way of personal connections in his life.  So when Salem bumps into an attractive stranger on his way to work one morning he isn’t expecting it to lead anywhere.  He certainly isn’t expecting it to change his life.

Wyatt Pendleton is handsome, sweet natured, and homeless.  Drawn to the quiet strength Wyatt exudes Salem finds himself pulled back to the man’s side time and time again.  Working through their differences is a challenge, as is the ever looming shadow of Carter, Salem’s abusive ex, to deal with.  Despite that Salem finds that he and Wyatt are both willing to fight and overcome all of it in order to protect the home that they’ve found in each other.

EXCERPT

He wanted Wyatt fiercely in that instance and his hands moved down of their own accord to pluck at the waistband of Wyatt’s pants.  He was all set to tug at it, to finally see what Wyatt’s cock looked like when one of Wyatt’s hands suddenly wrapped around his fingers and tugged them away.  Startled, Salem pulled back far enough to look Wyatt in the face.

Wyatt was flushed, his cheeks red above the dark line of his beard, his lips kiss swollen and his eyes bright with want.  Salem’s own face felt hot, the skin of his cheeks and around his mouth rubbed tender by Wyatt’s beard.  He leaned forward to kiss Wyatt again, but to his surprise and slight hurt Wyatt shook his head slowly.  Salem sat frozen as Wyatt raised a hand up to slowly, carefully, cup his jaw in the warmth of his palm instead in a gesture that had quickly grown familiar between the two of them.

“We can’t, Salem.  Not now, not just yet.”  Wyatt’s voice was a deep, throaty rasp that made Salem’s stomach flutter for a brief second before he focused on what had been said.

“Why not?”  Salem cleared his throat and did his best to ignore the huskiness of his own voice as doubt crept up on him suddenly.  It was enough to break through the passionate haze that had fallen over him.  “Do you not want me?”  Salem shifted nervously where he was pressed against Wyatt’s body as he waited for the answer.  He was sure Wyatt did want him, but he still felt compelled to ask.  He could feel the line of his cock pressed against his own hip, a thick hot weight that made Salem want to sigh in anticipation, but it suddenly wasn’t proof enough.  He’d been wrong about so much in the past that Salem needed the reassurance.

“I want you.”  Wyatt replied instantly before he leaned back down into Salem’s space to nip and suck at his earlobe.  Salem shuddered.  “I’ve wanted you for weeks now.  I’ve imagined being with you, in you, a hundred times.  I’d daydream about kissing you, about how you’d taste, what you’d feel like.  Wanting’s not the issue, Salem.”

an Interview with Draco from Twisted Fate

We’re here today with Draco from Twisted Fate. Draco, thank you for joining us!

Draco: Thank you for having me.

I’m so happy that you agreed to answer a few questions for us. We’d love the chance to get to know you better.

Draco: I’ve always been something of a private person, but I’ll answer anything question you pose, so ask away!

What do you do for a living and what do you like about it?

Draco: I’m a fireman for the Moonspell Fire Department. You probably think it’s odd for a dragon to put out fires, but I can take the heat and I love the action. Although, in a small town like Moonspell, I rescue more cats in trees than put our fires, but I love my job just the same. I get to work with a great group of guys, who are all like brothers to me. I can’t imagine doing anything else with my life.

Are you more comfortable in scales or skin?

Draco: I’d have to say skin, but mostly because it’s a little hard for a dragon to move around town unnoticed. It isn’t like I’m a woodland creature than can blend in with the scenery. If there’s a blue dragon flying through the sky, someone is bound to notice.

How did you get together with your heroine in Twisted Fate?

Draco: I  met Lacey in the Big Bear Diner. She’d just started waitressing there and came to our table to take our order. I was out with the guys so I didn’t interact with her much at the time. Truthfully, my friend Rafe did most of the talking. But the moment Lacey walked up to the table, I knew there was something about her. And it wasn’t just her stunning looks, there was this vibe in the air. I walked away at that time, though, it wasn’t until later that I really talked to her. She was in trouble and I took her under my wing.

What about Lacey makes you crazy in a bad way?

Draco: Honestly, I’m not sure. I love everything about her, including her penchant for getting into trouble. She’s soft and sweet, and while she seems vulnerable at first, there’s an iron core to her. She’s tough as nails, and had to be after what she went through. What can I say. I love her.

Aww. That’s so sweet. There need to be more guys like you, preferably unattached ones so the rest of us have a chance at a happily-ever-after.

Draco: Well, I work with several single guys. Stop by the fire department any time!

I just may do that. Thank you for stopping by to visit with me today, Draco. It’s been a pleasure getting to meet you in person. I look forward to hearing more about you and Lacey.

10 Things About Me

If you’re on Facebook, then you’ve probably noticed those statuses of people posting X number of things people don’t know about them. Well, it made me think… why should only my Facebook friends get that little peek into my life? I’m sure I have followers who aren’t on Facebook, or don’t follow me there. Not that I’m saying I’m the most fascinating person on the planet or anything.

So here goes…

1. I’ve been writing romance/erotic romance novels and novellas since 2008 and have published over 40 stories.

2. I do not plot. Ever. I open my Word doc and begin to write, and whatever pours out of me is what I accomplish for the day. And when I stop, I have no clue where I’m going with the story until I sit down to write again the next day.

3. I’m the crazy cat lady. It wasn’t intentional, it just sort of happened. We started with one, the adopted three more. And it snowballed from there.

4. I burn incense just about all the time, and my favorite scent is Dragon’s Blood. What I will never burn, is anything vanilla. Can’t stand the smell.

5. I love holiday movies. Doesn’t matter how early they start showing them, as soon as I see them on the Hallmark channel, I start watching them.

6. I hate cooking, with a passion. As far as I’m concerned, the kitchen is the place where drinks and snacks are stored. If anyone expects anything else to come out of there, they’re being really optimistic.

7. I’ve been married for 13 years and have two children. My house is only quiet from the time the kids go to bed until my husband gets home from work, then the TV comes back on and conversation resumes.

8. I love to read. Even when I’m on a deadline, I still make time to read (mostly romance).

9. I learned to play the piano, harp, and mountain dulcimer before I was 20 – none of which I’ve played in the last 7 or 8 years.

10. I’m 2 courses shy of a Psychology minor. I’m armed with just enough info to make me dangerous. It does help with character development though!

EXCERPT

Hadley knelt in the snow in front of the two tiny graves. After placing a red rose on top of each one, she brushed the tears from her cheeks. It had been nearly a year, but it still felt like it was only yesterday. A day didn’t go by that she didn’t blame herself for their deaths. What if she had reacted just one second sooner? What if she had been paying more attention, would she have seen the other driver in time? But no amount of what ifs or wishes would change the fact that her two babies were gone. She knew in her heart that the blame lay with the drunk driver who had plowed into their vehicle, but she had a hard time blaming someone who was dead. She was the sole survivor of the crash, and there were many days she wished she hadn’t survived.

Standing, she brushed the snow from her jeans. The cold and damp was starting to soak through her clothes straight to her bones. Even if she did want to stay longer, she knew it was best for her to leave and come again another day.

Hadley wasn’t sure she was moving on exactly, but it was a step in the right direction. She often wondered if it would be easier to shoulder the grief if she had someone to share it, but her children’s father hadn’t been in the picture from the moment he’d learned of their existence. It had been shortly after his rejection that she’d moved to Silver Falls, leaving behind the big city for the comforts of a small town. Of course, she hadn’t realized at the time that she was moving to a town where humans were the minority. But even in a town of supernatural beings, no one had been able to save her babies.

Huddling inside her coat to keep warm, she turned and walked down the path toward her car. It had taken her nearly a year, but she was finally driving again. She’d felt guilty, asking her friends to drive her everywhere, but at the same time driving a car had terrified her. She’d finally worked through the issue in therapy and started driving two months ago. The new Ford Explorer gleamed in the sunlight. After the accident, she’d sworn to never own a small car again.

She’d spent plenty of time at the cemetery for the day, and now it was time to head home and get to work. There was always something she needed to do. Work had been difficult for her, but she’d managed — somewhat. Writing children’s books had been easier before the accident. She’d turned in a few projects to her editor, but only one had been accepted. She had a lot of work ahead of her to make the others presentable. But days like this one made writing nearly impossible. It made her wonder if she would ever get over the pain of losing her children.

As she pulled into her driveway, she noticed a large box on her front porch. She didn’t remember ordering anything and most of her friends lived in town. Who could have left something so large on her porch?

She got out of the Explorer and went to investigate. There wasn’t a return address, but she could see where one had been. It had smeared during transit and could no longer be read. She tried lifting it, but it wouldn’t budge. The thing weighed a ton.

With a sigh, Hadley realized she’d have to bother her neighbor for assistance. Lucas Bowman had been her neighbor for years and had always been kind to her. She didn’t agree with his lifestyle, but he seemed to be a genuinely good person, not to mention he was the hottest guy she’d ever seen. The man was mouthwatering to be sure. She’d be lying if she said he hadn’t starred in at least one or two of her fantasies over the years. She was surprised he wasn’t at work, but his truck sat in the driveway.

She knocked on his door. A moment later Lucas opened the door. He smiled when he saw her, making her knees feel weak. Her heart was beating so hard she was sure he could see it pounding in her chest.

“Hadley, to what do I owe the pleasure?”

“The postman delivered a package today while I was gone and it’s too heavy for me to lift. Would you mind carrying it into the house for me?”

He nodded. “Just let me grab a coat. I’ll be right there.”

“Sorry for disturbing you.”

He grinned. “No problem.”

She waited patiently while he got ready and then led the way to her small house next door. Lucas hefted the box without any trouble and carried it inside, depositing it on her living room floor.

“Do you need anything else?” he asked.

She shook her head. “I’m sorry I bothered you.”

“It’s okay, Hadley. I was just going over some paperwork. I needed a break.”

“Are things going well at the store?”

He nodded. “Yeah, sales have been good. It’s been a good month so far. I’m actually surprised. This is usually our slow time of year. What about you? How are you doing?”

“I have good days and bad days. I went to see the girls today so it’s not one of my better ones. They say it gets easier, but…”

“I can only imagine what you went through, Hadley. There isn’t a time limit on grief. You take as much time as you need.”

She gave him a small smile. “Thank you, Lucas.”

“Well, I better get back home. If I don’t finish my reports, my employees won’t receive their checks on time.”

After closing the door behind him, she turned to face the mystery box. Peeling the tape off, she managed to open the top. All she could see were thousands of white packing peanuts. She reached inside and dug around until she felt something. Pulling as hard as she could, she managed to budge it a tiny bit, but it wasn’t coming out of the box. Whatever it was, it was large and heavy. No matter how much she dug, she couldn’t see anything but peanuts. It seemed she would have to bother Lucas again if she wanted to know what it was. But that could wait for another day. She didn’t want to disturb him again so soon.

Putting the box out of her mind, she went into the kitchen to make a cup of coffee. She loved her Nescafe Dolce Gusto machine. She had a regular coffeepot for serving a large number of people, but when it was just her, her Dolce Gusto machine was her one guilty pleasure. After her cup of coffee was brewed, she added her favorite creamer and carried her cup into her office.

The light, airy room was inviting most days. The cheerful pale yellow walls could usually brighten her mood, at least a little. She looked out the window at the snow covered trees and wondered what she would work on first. There were several books that needed revisions. But she almost felt like starting something new. Turning to face her computer, she began to write.

* * *

Three hours later, Hadley had finished a story. It was one she had told her children many times before laying them down to sleep at night, one she had created just for them. She’d stopped and cried several times while she was writing, but she was glad she’d put the words to paper.

The doorbell rang, pulling her from her thoughts. She saved her file, then got up and went to answer the door. Finding her other neighbor, Grayson, was a surprise. He’d been kind to her since she’d moved to Silver Falls, and while she wasn’t sure they were friends exactly, she knew she could count on him if she needed to. He seemed like a sweet guy. If it weren’t for Grayson, she didn’t know how she would have made it since moving to Silver Falls. He’d stopped in and helped her quite a few times over the years, fixing anything from the kitchen disposal to leaky pipes, and always greeted her with a smile.

“Are you okay?” he asked with a frown.

She wiped at a stray tear and nodded. “I was just writing. It was a story I used to tell my children before bed. It was harder to write than I’d thought it would be.”

He stepped into the house and took her hand. “Are you all right now?”

“I’m fine. But thank you for asking. Oh, while you’re here, may I ask a favor?”

“Sure.”

“I had a package delivered earlier today and whatever is in it is too heavy for me to lift. Would you mind taking it out for me?”

“Sure.”

She closed the door and walked over to the box. “I don’t remember ordering anything, and I can’t read the return address, so I have no idea what’s in this thing.”

“Well, let’s find out.”

Grayson reached into the box and lifted out what was inside. Hadley cried out when she saw what was nestled inside the peanuts.

Grayson sat the large rocking horse down on the floor. “I take it you didn’t buy this?”

“I did, but… It was going to be a present for the twins’ third birthday. I had forgotten about it.”

He dug around in the box and produced a note. “It says that you forgot to pick this up a few months ago so they shipped it to you.”

A tear slipped down her cheek. “What am I supposed to do with it now?”

“Is there somewhere you want me to put it for now?”

“In the girls’ room.”

She led him down the hall to her daughters’ room. She pushed the door open and flipped on the light. Everything looked the same as it had the day they’d died. She hadn’t been able to change a thing yet, but it was on her list of things to do.

Grayson set the horse in the corner of the room and didn’t say a word. She couldn’t even tell what he was thinking. Her friends Tildy and Sasha both thought the shrine, as they called the room, needed to go. But Grayson… if he felt the same way, he kept it to himself.

“Thank you,” she said softly.

He nodded and followed her out of the room, closing the door behind him. Once they were back in the living room, he stood near the door, running a hand through his hair.

“I guess if you don’t need anything else, I’ll go,” he said after a minute or two of awkward silence.

“Would you like a cup of coffee or a soda first?”

“Coffee would be great, if you’re sure it’s no trouble.”

She smiled. “I could use a break to regroup before I try to write anything else today.”

“Need any help?”

Hadley shook her head. “Just have a seat and I’ll be back in a few minutes. You like your coffee black, right?”

He nodded.

Carrying the cups back to the living room, she smiled at Grayson. “Here you go.”

“Thanks.” He smiled. “So… besides your crying spell when I arrived earlier, how have you been? I haven’t seen you in the past week.”

“I’m okay I guess. I went to see the girls today so I’m more of a basket case than usual. Some days are easier than others. But enough about me, how is work going these days? I’ve noticed you’ve kept longer hours than usual the past few weeks.”

“Busy. Lots of leaky roofs this time of year. And I’m building a house in Carson Corners.” He took a sip of his coffee. “How’s your writing going?”

“Most days it’s not. I have a lot of unfinished pieces and several that need work before my editor can see them. Today is the first day I’ve finished anything.”

“It will take time.”

“It’s been nearly a year. People are tired of being lenient with me and hearing excuses. They just don’t understand what it’s like. Losing a child is like losing a part of yourself. Someone ripped me in half and threw the other part away. It hurts so damn much all the time,” she sobbed.

He pulled her into his arms and held her close. Gently rubbing her back, he murmured words of comfort in her ear. Even when her tears subsided, he didn’t let her go. Grayson’s arms tightened around her. “Feel better?”

She nodded and pulled back, removing herself from his embrace.

“Hadley, you know that any time you want to talk, or just need to be around someone, I’m right next door. You’re welcome to come over anytime you’d like.”

“I’ll remember that. I have this list of things I’m supposed to accomplish to move on with my life, and my friends think I should be crossing things off already.”

“But you’re not ready.”

“No, I don’t think I am. At least, not for all of it. And the things I think I could tackle, I’m not ready to do alone.”

“So what’s on this list?”

“Well… My therapist wants me to clean out the girls’ room. He thinks it’s unhealthy and the constant reminder of what I’ve lost is keeping me from moving on. He also suggested that I cut back on my graveside visits to one every other week.” She tucked her hair behind her ear. “I’m actually doing better with that one. I don’t go every day anymore. Sometimes I only go twice a week.”

“It sounds like he’s asking a lot of you. But if you do decide to box up the girls’ room, I’ll help you. I don’t think that’s something you should do alone.”

“You mean it?”

“Of course.” He took her hand. “You have friends for a reason. Don’t hesitate to lean on them in your time of need.”

“Is that what we are? Friends?”

“I’d like to think so. And despite what your other friends think, you should tackle the things on your list when you’re ready. I’m assuming there’s more?”

She nodded. “Stuff to do with work and my personal life. I tried telling him I didn’t have one before the accident.”

Grayson grinned. “I know several guys who wanted to date you. They were just worried you’d turn them down. Everyone in town knew your daughters were your entire world.”

“I always thought my daughters were the reason no one asked me out. Most guys don’t want to date a single mom, especially one with twins.”

“I think our dear friend Lucas would have asked you out if you’d been open to it,” he said. “And I know at least one guy in the pack who was interested.”

Lucas was interested in her? She’d always liked him, as more than just a friend, but she hadn’t thought she was his type. She’d seen the women he went out with and none of them looked anything like her. She was more of the girl next door type and they were more of the model type.

“If someone had asked, I would have said yes. I didn’t date because no one ever asked me out.”

“What about a movie? Say Sunday night?”

“Grayson, I don’t know…”

“Just as friends. It will do you some good to get out of the house.”

She hesitated only a moment before nodding. “All right. Sunday then.”

“I’ll call you Friday to set up a time.”

He had a point about getting out more. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d gone to see a movie, or gone out to dinner. She hadn’t even had a girls’ night out with her friends in over a year. Hadley had been hiding in her house since the accident, and she realized that’s what it was — hiding. Maybe Grayson was right. Maybe she needed to rejoin the land of the living.

One Magickal Moment – Coming January 27 2012

Cerridwen Obrey is a witch, but that doesn’t mean she knows much about other paranormals, despite the fact her small town is full of warlocks, werewolves, vampires, and other assorted creatures of the night.

When a chance encounter with a handsome hunk of a werewolf leaves her pregnant, Cerri doesn’t expect anything from the man she never planned to see again. Her child needs a father, and she turns to her friends for help.

A lone wolf with a rough past, Kade’s far from ready to be a father. But when a one-night stand turns into a chance at the family he’s never had, he realizes Cerri may be exactly what he needs to make his life complete. But will he be too late?

EXCERPT

Cerridwen Obrey, Cerri to her friends, looked out the window at the wintry night. Wind howled down the chimney and she shivered, wishing she had wood to build a fire. Her hands rubbed up and down her arms, trying to ease the chill in her limbs. The heat was set on 68 degrees in hopes of saving money on the electric bill. The last one had just about wiped out her bank account.

If she only had money to purchase or rent a storefront along the main strip, she knew her business would flourish. Unfortunately, you had to spend money to make money, and that was in short supply.

She had a workroom set up in her home where she mixed bath oils, massage oils, and made herbal shampoo. She also hand rolled incense sticks, which were her best seller, especially the lavender and sandalwood. She’d seen a Wiccan type of shop in town, and had thought of asking the owner if she would stock a few items and maybe agree to a partnership of sorts, but Cerri hadn’t gotten up the nerve. She still held out hope she could open her own store.

She came from a long line of Pictish witches. She’d been known to cast an occasional spell, but only out of necessity. While her father was Welsh, hence her name, her mother had been Scottish and had taught her the old ways, passed down from mother to daughter as far back as their line could be traced. Cerri had several Pictish tattoos — a blue design on her upper arms covered her from shoulder to elbow, an overblown power band. On her back was a Celtic raven in turquoise and black. The wings spread across her shoulder blades, and the tail dipped to the middle of her back. The tattoos weren’t just art, they were part of who she was.

Looking over her shoulder at her workroom, she knew immersing herself in work would be a sure way to take her mind off the cold, and her recently deceased mother. With a sigh, she headed to her workroom, and lighting some Jasmine incense, began to work on a new shampoo.

Later that night, Cerri woke to the realization she had fallen asleep at her worktable. Stretching, she winced at the crick in her neck. She frowned, not knowing what had woken her.

Rising from her stool, she pulled her sweater tight around her body, trying to ward off the freezing air. She checked the thermostat in the hall and cringed when she saw the house was registering at 63 degrees. She knew she’d have to raise the temperature to 75 for the house to get warm overnight, but she couldn’t bring herself to do it. Whether she wanted to admit it or not, it seemed the blasted thing was broken again, not that her landlord would care.

She shook her head and looked out over her small living room. Light from the silvery moon illuminated every square inch of the small space. Something drew her to the window, calling to her on a primitive level.

Crossing the small area, she peered out the window and gasped. A large, black wolf stared at her from the snow-covered yard. She wasn’t sure when it had snowed, but a thick blanket covered everything in sight. The animal stared at her with eyes glowing in the night, and a shiver raked her body from head to toe. It felt as if he was looking into her very soul.

Pulling away from the window, she went into the bathroom for a hot shower. She stood under the water, reluctant to leave the warm paradise. Finally, she turned the water off and hurried to the bedroom to put on her pajamas and crawl beneath the covers.

Outside a wolf howled, and she burrowed further under the covers. She just knew it was the wolf she’d seen outside. Having grown up in Los Angeles, she wasn’t used to wildlife, much less having a wolf at her door.

Lucian D’Angel and Angel’s Fire, Demon’s Blood

Today I have Lucien D’Angel joining me, from Angel’s Fire, Demon’s Blood by Tamela Quijas. Thank you for joining me, Lucien!

Thank you for having me at your site.  I am, if I may admit, feeling more alive than I ever have during my existence. Lately, I have been  cross examining various emails from fans of my television show Those Among Us and contemplating new paranormal research locations.

How do you feel about your story being published for all to read?

A bit disconcerted.  I have always kept my life as private as possible.  To have my past revealed to the curious eyes of the public is a situation to which I am not comfortable.

Did you read it? What did you think, did the author do a good job capturing your story?

Yes, I have read Angel’s Fire, Demon’s Blood.   My life is complicated and borders on the surreal but I do feel that the author did take the time to capture the essence of my life.

Wonderful.  Can you tell us a little about yourself?

I am a best selling author of two paranormal books, both which had made the best seller lists.  I am, also, the leader of the paranormal investigation group Those Among Us.  The program does have a large fan base and is nationally televised.

What do you think about Evangeline Keegan, is there anything you can tell us about her?

Evangeline is brilliant.  She is the top investigative reporter for a television news station in New York.  I have known her for years and must admit that she is my angel.  In fact, for lack of a better word, she is my eternal salvation.

Well, how did you two meet?

(laugh) Long ago, when I had felt my world was a barren wasteland of darkness.

Well, thank you for joining me today, Lucien. I’m glad I had the opportunity to speak with you. I know you must be busy, but before you leave, is there anything else you’d like to say?

What would I ask your readers?  Do they know the dark side of the world, the plane that exists just beyond the human eye?  Do they ever wonder about that cold chill that brushes across their flesh during the hottest hours of the day?  Do they wonder why the name of some long lost suddenly comes to mind? Do they know of the evil and the good that walks among them?
