Interview with Iyana Jenna

Thank you for joining us today, Iyana! We’re very excited to learn more about you and your new release.

Thank you so much for having me with my new story, A Second Chance, on your blog, Jessica. I really appreciate it.

What can you tell us about the story?

This story is about Ryder and Chance, two actors who are attracted to each other but have to hide their feelings because of some particular reasons that make them not brave enough to tell the other what they think. Ryder is then engaged with another man and Chance has a girlfriend. They have to walk through a winding path before they are finally together.

Is this something you’ve wanted to write for a while, or did the idea just come to you one morning?

I think this is one of the stories that just came to me one morning. Especially about Sebastian. The idea of Sebastian kind of surprised myself. 🙂

Are you a pantser or plotter?

Maybe fifty – fifty. I have to have the big picture first. Then when I start the story, I will leave it and the characters to tell the story themselves.

What can you tell us about your writing schedule? Is there a particular time of day you find more inspirational than others?

I don’t really have a writing schedule. I also write mostly on my cell phone first. So anytime I have my cell phone with me and I don’t have anything else to do, I will write.

Do you have a particular vice when you’re writing? Coffee? Chocolate?

No, I don’t think so.

Tell us three things about you that most people don’t know.

  1. I always have toast for breakfast.
  2. I love and hate giving presentations.
  3. I can’t wear high heels.

If you had one piece of advice to give an aspiring author, what would it be?

Write hot sex scenes! Something I’m lacking. Heheh.

We’d love to have a little taste of your story. Could you share an excerpt with us?

Without waiting for Mike’s answer, he slid his phone open and scrolled down to Chance’s number. Ryder glanced briefly at Mike, who simply nodded and turned away to give him a semblance of privacy. Ryder turned his attention back to the call he was making and nearly jerked in anticipation when it was answered.

“Hey. Chance, it’s—”

“I’m sorry, but Chance can’t answer the phone right now.”

Ryder’s eyes bulged. Taken aback, he swallowed. “W-what? Who is this?”

“May I ask who’s speaking, please?”

“It’s, uh, Ryder. I’m his, his best friend—”

“Oh, Ryder. Sure.”

Ryder lifted an eyebrow when the man laughed a little.

“Chance talks a lot about you,” the man went on.

“Thanks, but….” Ryder’s eyes flickered to Mike, who was observing him closely. His mind began to wander to places he didn’t want to go. How could he not? The man had Chance’s cell. “Where is he? Do you mind if I talk to him?”

“No, of course not.” The man sighed. “But he really can’t.”

“What? What happened? What have you done to him?”

“Whoa, wait a second. I’ve done nothing to him. But he’s asleep right now. He hasn’t been able to sleep for some time. He’s been in so much pain he couldn’t even rest.”

Ryder slumped in his seat, rubbing his face. “Oh, God.” Mike had been right. Feeling lightheaded, Ryder whispered into the mouthpiece. “What’s wrong with him? God, is he okay now?”

“Yeah, I truly hope so. He’s much calmer now. He caught a stomach bug a couple of days ago.”

“And you’re—you’re Sebastian, right? Sebastian Vanderbilt? I saw the pictures.”

“That’s me. Oh, and Ryder?”

“Yes?”

“I heard about your engagement. Congratulations, man.”

“Well, I don’t—”

“Hey, look,” Sebastian cut him off. “I’d love to talk to you, but I really have to go. I’ll tell Chance that you called, okay?”

“Wait, Sebastian. I’m just… you know, I—” But it was too late. Sebastian had hung up. Sucking in a breath, Ryder could only gawk in disbelief.

****

Sebastian didn’t know for sure why he felt reluctant to talk to Ryder. He had no reason to feel threatened by him, though if the way Chance talked about Ryder in the interview was anything to go by, Sebastian might have to consider how he felt toward the guy. This was such a new thing for him, feeling insecure. He wasn’t that kind of guy. Sebastian wondered what Chance had done to him.

Back in the guestroom where Chance was resting, Sebastian found him awake. Chance’s gaze wandered, his expression half-studying his surroundings, half-wondering how or why he was there in the first place. He turned to Sebastian only when he heard him clear his throat. Warmth surged in Sebastian’s heart at the fleeting blush on Chance’s freckled face. He wondered what Chance thought about the room. Sebastian loved his place, but perhaps it was childish to want to hear what Chance had to say about it.

Sebastian went to sit next to Chance, reaching out to feel his brow.

Chance groaned, shying away. “I’m not a child, Sebastian.”

“No.” Sebastian smiled. “But you gave me quite a scare.”

“Sorry.” Chance looked down.

“Hey, that’s not your fault. You were sick and obviously you hadn’t fully recovered when you left the hospital. How are you feeling now?”

“Much better.” Chance licked his lips.

“Water?”

“Please.”

Sebastian watched Chance drink slowly, and when he pulled back, some drips still clung to his lower lip. Sebastian knew he’d been staring, and he completely ignored the glass shoved back into his palm. Finally, he chuckled, put the glass away on the nightstand, and took off his shirt.

Chance’s eyes widened before they darkened a bit.

“May I?” Sebastian gestured toward a space on Chance’s huge, fluffy pillow.

Chance shifted a little to give him more room, much to his delight. He slipped under the cover and could feel Chance stiffen slightly. His face—mere inches from Sebastian’s—was taut before he relaxed and snuggled into Sebastian’s bare chest. Chance’s body felt sleep warm under his thin T-shirt, and Sebastian braved Chance’s reaction and slid a hand under it. He palmed Chance’s flat abs and up to his muscled torso, sighing appreciatively at the deep moan wrenched out of Chance’s throat.

“Beautiful,” Sebastian said huskily. “Very beautiful.” He tweaked a nipple and was rewarded with the stretched column of Chance’s smooth neck as he threw his head back, lips parting, his guttural growl sending Sebastian’s blood to his groin.

Blurb:

Chance Devereux and Ryder Adkins have worked on the same TV series for three years and share a house near the set. Yet Chance can only watch from afar when Ryder gets engaged. Even though Chance is still deep in the closet, he can’t help be jealous.

Since the first day of shooting, Ryder has had his sights on his costar, but Chance has a girlfriend and Ryder thinks Chance is straight. After years without a concrete result, Ryder decides to forget his desire to be with Chance and go back to Mike.

During a hiatus, Chance does an interview with journalist, Sebastian Vanderbilt. Sebastian opens Chance’s eyes, and he decides he needs to make Ryder his. Can they work it out, or  are they all out of retakes?

“For a moment his brain stuttered in its function, and all he could do was stare. Her face was framed by tousled waves streaked with red, her wide brown eyes filled with awareness. His heart flipped once again, and his arousal grew. So much for being quiet.

“Hey, minx. Why are you awake?” He set his bags down once more and made his way to her side. He knew the answer but couldn’t help but ask. Maybe his stupidity hadn’t woke her up.

“’Cause you’re loud as hell.” She gave him a wide smile that showed off bright white teeth, but the gesture didn’t reach her eyes. “No kiss hello?”

“Well, depends on which lips you want kissed,” he teased, unable to keep from bringing sexual banter into play. He started to say something else, but her full, throaty laugh caught him off guard and caused his stomach muscles to clench and his heartbeat to speed up.

Once she recovered, she raised one sculpted, dark-brown brow. “Well, someone feels randy right now. Why don’t you put those bags away, take a shower, and join me in bed and find out.”

She sat up to show that she had slept in one of his well-worn black shirts and her pajama bottoms. He chuckled at how small she looked in the top. “Miss me that much that you’re wearing my clothes?”

She pouted. “I thought I looked good in it. Besides, it’s what’s underneath that you want.” She lifted the hem a few inches until a strip of rich cocoa skin showed in the lamplight. “You gonna shower and get in here, or do I have to take care of things on my own?” Desire burned in her eyes.

He inhaled deeply, taking in the musky tang of aroused woman, hot and awake. Fire filled his mouth, and his eyes and swirled around his body until he was filled with it. The dragon was awake and ready to claim his mate. “Taunting the dragon, love? Naughty minx.””

Review from Long and Short Reviews: “Carrie and Dean had some rough patches to work through, and this story shows how important communication is to any relationship. Once these two got into the spirit of the Truth or Dare cards, there were many possible outcomes, and this book explores the many options open to Carrie and Dean to bridge the difficult times and make their lives what they wanted. This is for those who like romance, magic and lots of heat.”- Foxglove

Blurb:

Nick is the most beautiful, successful, amazing man—just ask his executive assistant Tayte.

Tayte’s been in love with his boss from the moment he set eyes on him. But two years working with him and Tayte isn’t even sure Nick is gay.

But it’s time for his contract evaluation and Nick wants to give Tayte more than just a raise.

Excerpt:

“Hey, Tayte.”

The insipid voice of Connor Turner bounced into Tayte’s brain and he suppressed the shudder that rose. He lifted his gaze and took in the spectrum of color before him.

“Hey, Connor.”

Connor, who was the assistant of Greg Scholl, the man just beneath Nick on the totem pole, flounced up and rested his hip on Tayte’s desk.

“So… found out if Nick is gay yet?”

Tayte forced a smile to his lips and sat up straighter in his chair. He didn’t know, much to his chagrin. Even if he did, he certainly wouldn’t be announcing it to the biggest gossip in the building.

“Not my business, Connor.”

Connor laughed and winked. “I’ll take that as a no. You know, they say Nick only wants male assistants because he has a super jealous wife at home who can’t handle the idea of him having a hot secretary.”

Tayte inhaled sharply through his nose and turned his smile up a notch.

“I haven’t encountered a wife, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t one.”

And it was true. Tayte hadn’t encountered any wives, girlfriends, no significant other at all. However, that didn’t mean anything, since Nick received a lot of calls on his cell, but after two years, Tayte was starting to think Nick was single.

But Hetero or Homo? That was the million dollar question.

“I have heaps of work to do, Connor, and I’m sure you do too.”

Connor giggled and stepped back, his hips swinging as he moved back toward the lift.

“Oh, I’ve been working since sunrise. You know how it is.” He winked and laughed, turning away without waiting for Tayte to respond.

“No, but you certainly do.” Tayte answered anyway, grinding his teeth in frustration for a minute. He hated those sorts of guys. He didn’t mind effeminate gay men. Hell, he’d fucked more than his fair share of them over the years. But guys that deliberately acted ‘gay’ when it wasn’t their natural disposition just pissed him off. Not to mention how much men, and women for that matter, who slept their way to the top, and Connor was a prime example of that, really grated on his nerves.

“Well, you can get in line behind me if you want Nick, Connor, because I’m not moving.” Tayte muttered to himself and scanned over his list of daily jobs. Wow. Lucky Nick was out of the office today, or he’d never get all that done.

He worked all afternoon, not stopping when everyone else left at five. He really should go home, but what was waiting for him there? Two idiotic housemates and a pile of dirty washing.

“You could actually go out. Get laid.” He muttered to himself once again, furious he wasn’t excited about another one-night stand.

But how could he be? Ten minutes with some random guy? Yuck, he’d had enough of that sort of life.

“You could, I’m sure.” Nick’s voice boomed through the foyer and Tayte cried out as shock had him jumping back from his desk, his heart leaping into his throat before settling to pound against his rib cage as he looked up at his boss.

“Fuck, you scared me.”

Nick walked closer, pulling at his tie and letting it hang on his shirt in a casual way.

“Why are you still here, Tayte? You’re young and beautiful. You should be out getting your cock sucked by some lovely little thing.”

Heat flowed up into Tayte’s cheeks and he glanced down at his computer, quickly shutting down all the open programs. He’d never heard Nick speak like that, and the crude words were turning him on in a shameful way. Nothing better than a man who could talk dirty.

“Ah, well, I had to finish a few things and I, ah, l…lost track of time. I’ll g…get out of your way and h…head home now though.”

Tayte was stuttering, but he couldn’t help it. He was as embarrassed as the day his mother had found him jerking off in the bathroom when he was fifteen.

“Don’t rush, if you don’t have to go. Stay.”

Being Luca’s by Raven McAllan

beinglucas1s

The premise for the book was very limited.

Using the name Leigh, Monteith, and Corrieri, because my hairdresser asked me to. Apart from that it was up to me. I knew what I wanted to write, but oh boy it wouldn’t work for ages. I deleted the first two chapters, started with chapter three as chapter one, and all of a sudden, I wrote, and wrote, and finished a nice—well I hope so—Romance on the Go. Then I got worried that Leigh, the person, might not like Leigh the character. But she loved her, drooled over Luca and wanted to know when it was due to be published. Well I had to explain there was the none too small matter of subbing and getting an acceptance.

But chair swivel jiggle I got it…

This is the result…

What is a marriage without trust?

When damning newspaper reports point to the seeming infidelity of her husband, Formula One Racing Championship driver Luca Corrieri, Leigh runs without waiting for his explanations.

After all, the pictures don’t lie. He has been cheating on her with her best friend.

Luca is devastated at the ease with which Leigh abandons what they have. Surely their marriage deserves more, but how do you convince someone of your innocence when they are not prepared to listen?

When the truth finally comes out, is their love strong enough to save their marriage?

Here’s a wee tease…

She lay there in that pleasant state halfway between awake and asleep and relaxed.

The heavy hand on her shoulder made her scream, shoot up out of her chair, and turn around in a move to do any prima ballerina proud. Red wine went in every direction, except luckily, on her.

The guy who stood behind her chair didn’t fare so well. With red wine dripping from his hair onto his face, and from his chin onto what seemed like a very costly silk shirt, he looked a mess. Even his expensive-looking trousers hadn’t got off scot-free.

The expression made Leigh want to giggle—after all she was a Scot— although the guy standing there with a face like frost didn’t.

“What a way to greet me, cara. Are you still feeling so pissy? After all you got what you wanted.”

Leigh saw red and it wasn’t just the spilled wine. All her introspective thoughts about being narrow minded flew out of her mind.

“Asshole. Fucking asshole. No, you got what you wanted. Your dick in that marriage wrecking groupie’s cunt. What I wanted was your bollocks in a vise. And her clit to shrivel and her channel to shrink.”

She couldn’t believe the profanities that spewed out of her. Leigh always prided herself on not swearing, because as her mother had often said, it showed a lack of imagination and vocabulary. Right then she couldn’t have cared less if it made her illiterate. The words fitted.

He reddened, took out a linen handkerchief, and wiped his face without saying a word.

Leigh was on a roll. In some perverse way she was enjoying herself. It was cathartic, saying just how she felt, to his face. “I hope you got yourself checked out, Luca? After all who knows who was in that pussy before you? Did you check the hair for nits? Oh no I forgot, she’s probably one who dares to bare.” She didn’t mention that since she and Luca had separated she’d tried that, liked it, and never gone back to hairy. “Best way really, less to catch anything in.”

“You know nothing.” He barked the words, looked around and then dropped the sodden handkerchief onto the table. “That’s enough.”

Leigh ignored him. “Not by a long chalk Signor Corrieri. Why are you here? How did you get in? Added breaking and entering to your list of transgressions now, have we?”

He swung a door key in front of her face. “No breaking necessary, cara. You left this in the door. Freudian slip? Or were you waiting for someone else?”

“Neither.” She snatched the key from him and put it in her pocket. “I’m not the one who played away.”

“Will this verbal crucifixion go on for ever?” Luca’s voice was flat and unemotional. Only the tic at the corner of his eye showed how affected he was. “I screwed up, I admit it. I said sorry, what more do you want me to do? Bleed?”

“Well you screwed all right, and I guess it was up. Up into her. Bleeding isn’t enough. I’ve bled enough for both of us.” Leigh bit back a sob. Luca lifted his arm toward her, took one look at her face and let it drop. She could only imagine what he’d seen there. However, if her emotions showed in her expression as usual, it would have been something along the lines of how she was wondering if she could commit murder and get away with it.

“You cheated, Luca. You defiled what we had. And that bitch crowed about it. In every bloody paper, before you said as much as a dicky bird. Were you hoping to get away with it? Fat chance with Angela, oh I’m your friend Leigh, bloody here’s my cunt screw me whatsherface. Two faced bitch.” All her thoughts of being open-minded, things aren’t always what they seem, had gone from her mind. She was, in the words of her friend’s daughter, ‘in a mad’. “As for you, couldn’t you have kept your cock in your trousers for one weekend? Was that too much to ask? And now I expect you’re going to say it was all her doing. That she came on to you, and you were drunk and didn’t know what was happening. Men. Think with their dicks.” She turned her back on him and very deliberately filled her glass.

“No, I’m not going to say it was all her doing. It takes two to be f…”

“Okay I get your drift.” Leigh sat back in her chair. “Oh sit down, Luca. Tell me why you’re here and then go away. If you want some wine, in a glass and in your throat rather than over you, there are glasses in the cupboard next to the sink. If not speak up and then fuck off. I want to wallow and wonder why I’m so lacking in sexuality my husband needed a whore.”

“You are so wrong, cara. But it’s not my story to tell.” Luca sighed, nodded and walked into the house. She heard cupboard doors open and close. Why hadn’t she just told him to get lost? Taken her key and locked the door behind him?

Because we’ve never really talked about it.

Luca returned to the garden and poured wine into a glass before he sat next to her and swirled the liquid around the vessel.

“Good legs,” he said.

She laughed, although there wasn’t a lot of humor in it.

“Me or the wine?”

“Both, although in this case I meant the wine.” He stretched his long legs out in front of him, and held his wine glass loosely between thumb and forefinger.

Leigh looked at him out of the corner of her eye. As ever during the race season there wasn’t an ounce of fat on him, only honed and toned muscle. In any other circumstances she would have drooled.

“Ah well, I had a good teacher.” By now Leigh had calmed down. Except for her unruly hormones which made her itch to undo his shirt and run her hands over those impressive abs and … down girl, this is your lying, cheating almost ex here. Or he was until she thought otherwise.  The cuss-filled rant had done her good, but worn her out. “Okay, Luca, why are you here?”

“You’re not going to like it,” he said in a warning tone. “But I felt I had to warn you.”

Warn her? That sounded ominous. Was there anything worse he could hit her with

“Tell me.”

COME CHAT WITH ME!

Welcome Ela Stein!

Hello, everyone! I’m here today to talk about my two new releases with Evernight Publishing, but first of all, a very huge thank you to my blog hostess for having me. These are my first publications, so I am excited and a little scared 🙂 Writing has always been a part of my life, and getting published a dream and a goal, so it’s a cool feeling to have two books for my very first release date.x

First, a little bit about my Free Read because… well, it’s free. So you can try out my writing at no risk, and I hope you enjoy it. This is a quick and short read, at a little over 5,000 words. “Pleasure Android 7.1” came about as the result of the eternal “what if” question. With all the advances we’re making in artificial intelligence and robots, it seems almost inevitable that this will be our future. I saw a video about the robots they are creating in China… they look like people, they talk, they make eye contact. It’s exhilarating, the progress we’re making, and a little creepy at the same time. Nico, the hero of “Pleasure Android 7.1” is definitely not the least bit creepy. He was created to be every woman’s fantasy and has the database to deliver (wink, wink).

Blurb:

Zola is dismayed to discover that for her 40th birthday, her friends teamed up to purchase her a hot sex droid. She refuses to let herself get attached to a machine, and tries her best to avoid the temptation. He is programmed to overcome such resistance and knows how to wear down defenses and sell himself like a pro using his perfect charms and impeccable skills. Though she suspects it’s nothing more than a sales pitch, she begins to question whether beneath his perfect manufactured exterior can lie genuine feelings and desires.

Excerpt:

What the fuck.

A seven-foot-tall box occupied the middle of my living room. I stared at the prime male specimen behind the clear front panel. Well over six feet tall, with dusky skin, dark brown wavy hair, broad shoulders, aquiline nose, full lips—basically, he looked like a model, the kind you’d drool over in an ad for high-end products.

With his eyes closed, his long, thick lashes grazed his chiseled cheekbones. He looked as though he slept—an illusion of the most expensive kind.

I sighed, hands on my hips. My best friend, Lexia, had done it. For my fortieth birthday, she got me a sex droid. She’d joked about it, but I never thought she’d actually follow through. It had to be her—she was the only other person who had access to my apartment.

On the box, in large, blocky print, it proclaimed “Domestic Android 7.1” and underneath it, in fancy script, “For Your Pleasure.” Alrighty then. And what if it was my pleasure to get rid of it? I stalked to the box and circled around it. The back and both sides were solid panels of striking red. If it was supposed to be romantic, their marketing department missed the boat. I wasn’t a big fan of Valentine’s Day, and this was even cheesier than a heart-shaped box of chocolates.

Although, I could remember a time when chocolates, roses, and a little stuffed bear made my heart skip a beat. I had grown a bit jaded over the years, which was probably why my friends decided to gang up and torture me with this… thing. It stood there, like the proverbial elephant in the room. There would be no vid watching on my birthday, cuddled up with a bowl of ice cream. No relaxing in the tub with a good romance novel. Now I was too distracted, and I wasn’t going to be able to enjoy myself until I got this thing out.

A plan formulated: get the box outside and message his creator, Atlas Robotics Corporation, to come pick him up. No, not him. It. I studied the box. At five foot five, it had well over a foot on me. I tried to tilt it to the side, planning on then pushing it out the rest of the way. The damn thing was heavy. So heavy, it didn’t even wobble when I gave it my all.

Exhausted, I plopped down on my yellow pleather couch to glare at the box. I refused to build up a sweat today of all days. What a disaster my birthday was turning out to be. There was no getting the box out until Atlas Robotics agreed to stop by. Since they had no incentive to be eager to process a return, it could be days. Maybe even weeks, I thought miserably.

Not fair that here I was, suffering, while he—it!—stood there, all serene and peaceful. I jumped to my feet and approached the box. There was an easier way to do this. Turn him on and order him to take a hike on his own two legs. The more I considered it, the more I liked this plan. Quick, easy, smart.

Okay, I hope you liked the beginning of my free short story. Now, onto my novella, “Love’s Labyrinth”. I am a huge fan of fantasy, and this novella is very close to my heart. It’s set in the far future, on a colonized planet. Humans weren’t doing too well with surviving on it after a crash landing, but the Gods took mercy and intervened, helping them figure it out. The Goddess of Love left behind her magical Labyrinth, where once a year, those who participate get to meet the ones they’re fated to be with. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) the ratio of men to women is skewed, so it’s not uncommon with a woman to find more than one mate. As everyone knows, the Goddess makes no mistakes.

Blurb:

Auria enters the magical Labyrinth on New Year’s Eve, and its halls guide her to the two men she is fated to be with. Brener has loved her from afar since they were children, and Jhennen is a Warrior-Guard, commanding in personality and intimidating in physical presence. They share a life-changing, passionate night together, but come morning, they must decide if their one-night menage can be the beginning of something new. When trouble threatens to tear Auria away from her life and the two men she is starting to develop feelings for, their connection just might be her only hope for salvation.

X-Rated Excerpt:

Brener’s tongue flicked masterfully on my clit. He knew what he did to me. I held my breath, feeling my insides begin to gather, ready for that final moment.

But just before it came, Brener stopped and jerked back, leaving me alone. My pussy protested, my clit throbbing almost painfully. My eyes flew to him in protest, in supplication, but then my whole being froze.

Brener was sitting back on his heels, his lips wet from his ministrations, his body stiff with shock. The same shock I myself felt, as I stared up at the stranger that seemed to have appeared from nowhere.

He was gigantic, appearing to loom like a mountain from my prone position. Whereas Brener had an athlete’s body, this stranger had a warrior’s body with a broad back and wider hips and his entire physique encased in bulky muscle. Blond hair, almost white, was pulled back in a long ponytail—I could see its bottom reached to his lower back. My eyes flew to his face, his cold, pale blue eyes. He seemed to regard me with some measure of amusement. A long pale scar saved his face from being almost pretty, as did the rough bump in his aquiline nose. Leaning against the green wall of the Labyrinth with one shoulder, his relaxed stance was at complete odds with the tension that gripped me.

I gasped and used my hands to cover my breasts, while drawing my legs up to cover my splayed pussy.

Seeing this, he chuckled and shook his head. “No need to cover all the loveliness,” he said, and his words held a hint of an accent, the difference in inflection conveying he was not from our village. It sounded like a northern dialect.

“Who are you?” I could think of nothing else to say in that moment. My heart jumped to action, pounding away like crazy with a surge of adrenaline.

“Jhennen,” he replied, as though we were out to tea, having a pleasant chat. As an afterthought, he added, “Jhennen Vayment.”

“What are you doing here?” Brener almost growled, coming to his feet now, bristling. With them standing, it was clear Jhennen was a couple heads taller. All the more sweet that Brener thought to protect me from him, dwarfed as he was by this man, who looked battle-trained and used to combat.

“I suppose the same thing as you are,” Jhennen drawled out almost carelessly. His stance was nonthreatening, but his eyes glinted with definite danger. “The Goddess brought me here, same as you. So stand down, and either watch or participate, your choice.”

Outraged, I sputtered, and would have flown at him to slap that presumptuous smile off his face, but remembering my complete nakedness, I stayed put. “What do you mean, participate?”

“Is it the word or the concept you’re not clear on?” He turned to me now, his tone light.

“You’re not participating in anything here, or with anyone here. Feel free to turn about and go back the way you came,” I shot back, angry now.

“I think not. The Goddess doesn’t make mistakes, and to be honest, I hoped we’d cross paths here.”

About Me:

Reading was my entertainment and salvation as a child, and it transferred into a passion for writing. I am still very much a reader, and love many different genres, from erotic romance, to fantasy (and dark fantasy… Game of Thrones, anyone?), to historical fiction, and that love is reflected in my own writing as well (I don’t do contemporary very often). If you’d like to learn more about me, or chat about books and life, you can find me all over the web. I’d love to get to know all of you, and even though my blog is new, I post regularly and update on life and my writing progress. Thanks so much for stopping by today and reading. Do you plot?

As I’ve gotten to know various authors over the past six years, I’ve come realize that we all approach writing a little differently. Some plot, some don’t. A few even do a partial plot, then let creativity take over. If you write, what approach do you use?

Personally, I don’t plot. Not because I can’t, but… well, it doesn’t do me any good. I’ve tried to plot before. Really, I have. I had a terrific plot one time, had the whole book lined out chapter by chapter, even had a detailed list of what happened within each chapter (complete with quotes!). It was pretty. But somewhere in the midst of writing chapter one, something happened. My characters didn’t behave the way they were supposed to behave. The heroine didn’t fall in love with the hero, in fact, she couldn’t stand him! As her personality began to develop, it became quite obvious I’d paired her with the wrong brother.

As I ripped out those sheets of notebook paper, with my beautiful outline on them, and tossed them into the trash, I actually felt a sense of relief. I no longer had to worry about whether or not X,Y, Z was going to be accomplished in chapter two, or if everything was going to be on track for the events coming up in chapter three. No, instead, I just let the words flow. My characters took on lives of their own, whispering to me as I wrote, telling me their stories as I rushed to get them on paper. I wasn’t focused on the end result anymore and just let the story happen. It wasn’t a goal, a job, it was a form of creative expression and an emotional release.

Now, while I love to write this way, because there is a certain rush to it when everything is falling into place so nicely, there is also a downside. What happens when the characters aren’t speaking to you? Well… you hit a dead end until someone starts talking again. I’ve gone days without writing, but then an idea will pop in my head, or someone will whisper something to me that lights me on fire again and off I go.

While I do track how many words I write per day (I have a pretty spreadsheet just for my writing!), and I do set daily goals, I try to go with the flow. If I don’t write one day, so what. Maybe my brain needed a break that day and I just didn’t realize it. Yes, there are deadlines to meet, but I’ve found that if you force the words out, the end result isn’t nearly as pretty as when they just happen. Or at least, that’s the case with me.

So… do you plot? Or do you write by the seat of your pants?

Insatiable – Now Available!

Insatiable_Cover_small

On her way home from work, the last thing Alexa expected was to literally bump into the man of her dreams. Carson seems to be everything she’s ever wanted. He’s handsome, funny, courteous… and he sets her body on fire. There’s just one little drawback. Carson is a vampire.

Questions for Alexa and Carson…

Carson, what was the first thing that drew you to Alexa?

Her eyes. They were so innocent, and yet seductive at the same time. When I looked into her eyes, I saw forever, and for the first time, that didn’t make me feel lonely.

Alexa, when you found out Carson was a vampire, what did you first feel?

Scared. But only for a brief moment. I’d already figured out by then he wouldn’t hurt me, so the news was more startling than anything. It only took  my brain a minute to process the fact that while he might have sharp, pointy teeth, he was still the man I was starting to fall for, head over heals.

Carson, is there anything you’d like to say to Alexa? Maybe something you haven’t told her before?

She’s my light and my love. I hope she knows just what she means to me, that I show her everyday how important she is, because she’s my entire world. Without her, my existence would be a long and lonely one.

Alexa, do you ever regret meeting Carson that night?

No! My life may not have turned out the way I’d envisioned, but I wouldn’t change it for anything. Carson brings out the best in me, no matter the situation. He’s very supportive of my work, even though we could exist quite comfortably without me ever working another day. He knows it’s important to me, so he stands by my side and gives me the freedom I need.
